Disclaimer

While this guide does provide you with the info needed to cheat through singleplayer, I would not advise doing so. It's an easy way to ruin your experience with the game and I highly suggest you finish and play through some of the endgame content before following things in this guide.

If you are lazy and don't feel like excessive grinding in singleplayer, or perhaps you want to test out endgame builds and item combos for seasonal, then you may find this information useful.

I don't play very often at all, and mostly had come back recently to check out 3.0. Out of habit I did some digging and playing with save editing in single player and felt like I should document some of this info. If you have any questions please feel free to comment and ill answer as best I can, Enjoy!

Your Save File

Save files for your character are found in
AppData\Local\Hero_Seige\save_folder
Here you will find files named heroseige(#).pas
0 is the first character slot
1 is the second, and so on.

MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SAVE BEFORE YOU BEGIN EDITING
this is easily done by just copying the save and changing the number to make it a new save, or saving a copy of the .pas file to a different folder.

You'll also notice a DISCLAIMER.txt file which warns that if you edit these files you will permanently corrupt them. Not so sure how true that is since things have gone pretty smoothly for me so far but again, make backups to be sure.

To edit these files just open then as you would a normal .txt file, Notepad++ is helpful here but notepad always works if you don't have it. Make sure the game is closed before you start editing or trying to save the edited file, you'll need to relaunch the game for it to read a new save file.

Levels, Stats, and Progression

Opening the save file you'll note that the first couple 100's of lines are all for an inventory list. There's some stuff for quests up at the top as well as your minion's equipment, but for now you're likely concerned with things related to the character.

You can ctrl+F and search for the character name, or just scroll towards the bottom.
There you'll see a few useful variables such as:
crystalkeys="XX.000000" keys="XX.000000" wormhole_level="XX.000000" talent_1-9="XX.000000" class="XX" Level="XX" and hero_talent_0-11="XX.000000"
These can all be changed to whatever you want really, as long as you leave the decimal places alone. As you might guess changing the talent numbers will change the number of levels you have put into the talents, even allowing you to bypass the lvl 30 max or put more points in than you have hero levels.(This can get very broken very quickly) You may also notice if you scroll up a little bit, the act and zone variables:
act_1-7="X.000000" zone0-7, 0-4="X.000000"
These variables work as flags, storing how far you've progressed in the main story. setting X to 1 for all of these will make it so you have cleared every level on normal difficulty. 2 for nightmare, 3 for hell, and 4 for inferno, and 0 if you haven't yet cleared it on any difficulty.

If you want to skip playing through the story and have access to any of these levels on any difficulty, change their values to "4.000000"

(If you're curious why so many values have 6 empty decimal points, its because the game uses a Double for almost everything, meaning it would cap at 9,999,999. If you're looking for values in cheat engine or something, keep that in mind)

Inventory Editing

Scrolling down to the very bottom you'll begin to see entries for your inventory. Depending on how full your inventory is it probably looks something like this:
[inventory] inventory7="134|0.78|5|4|1|1|7|0|" inventory3="146|0.99|5|11|1|2|3|0|" inventory4="125|0.85|5|11|1|1|4|0|" inventory0="144|0.89|5|9|1|1|0|1|s0|" inventory2="133|0.94|5|6|1|1|2|0|" inventory1="148|0.99|5|2|1|1|1|0|" inventory5="149|0.95|5|17|1|1|5|0|" inventory6="124|0.94|5|10|1|1|6|0|" [inventory_list] inventory_list6="422|0.99|6|13|10|1|7|5|s0|0|0|0|0|" inventory_list5="122|0.79|5|7|1|1|5|0|" inventory_list4="147|0.74|5|0|1|1|4|0|" inventory_list3="148|0.74|5|4|1|1|2|2|s0|0|" inventory_list1="115|0.96|5|10|1|1|6|0|" inventory_list0="135|0.94|5|18|1|1|5|0|" [runes] rune_list120="120|2" rune_list153="153|1" rune_list130="130|1" rune_list113="113|1" rune_list140="140|1" rune_list8="8|2"

Now looking at this alone doesn't make much sense, but comparing it to your inventory in-game you can start to see a couple connections. However I'll save you the trouble and break down what values correspond to what.

So first there are 3 sections:
  • inventory is what the player currently has equipped.
  • inventory_list is everything they're carrying in the backpack
  • and runes is all of your runes (surprise)

The two inventory sections have the same syntax for each entry, lets break down this one
inventory0="144|0.89|5|9|1|1|0|1|s0|"
  • inventory0 means this is currently equipped. Slot 0 is the helmet slot.
  • 144 is the item level (ilvl) of the item.
  • 0.89 is the % quality of the item, in this case 89% quality. This value maxes at 0.99, or 99%
  • 5 is the rarity of the item, Mythic in this case.
  • 9 is the item's ID, this determines which helmet is equipped.
  • 1 is the item's level. Satanic items can be between lvl1-10, non satanic items simply default to 1.
  • 1 is the item's Type ID or Weapon Type. This value changes only for weapons, for all other equipment it stays as a 1.
  • 0 is the items Slot ID, in this case 0 corresponds to helmets. Note that this is in inventory0, the helmet slot.
  • and the final 1 is the number of sockets on the item, 1 in this case. If the item were to have no sockets, the value would end there at |0|". When an item has sockets, it starts adding slots for each socket starting with |s0|, then simply adding 0's after. for example: an item with 3 slots would end with |3|s0|0|0|", the 0's correspond to the id of the item in the socket.

Adding Items

To add a new item to your backpack (rather than overwriting an existing one) is fairly simple, just piece together all the necessary information.

Check the section below for tables on each of the various "IDs"

first, when adding to the [inventory_list] make a new line just before [runes], and start with:
inventory_list10=" change "10" to be 1+ the previous entries number
Then, the ilvl of the item will automatically be brought down if it's too high. 149 is the highest for a mythic item and 160 seems to be the highest for a lvl 1 satanic.

0.99 is the highest %quality value you can use, this affects how high the stat rolls are on the item.

Next the Rarity. Check the next section for a list of values and corresponding rarities.

Then the item ID, this depends on which item you're looking for. The next section has a (wip) list of all satanic item IDs.

then Satanic item level. it's usually easier to leave this as a 1 first, load the save and then go back to edit it, since loading the save causes the items to fix some potential errors first. this number can be between 1 and 10.

Type ID, if the item you're making isn't a weapon this is always 1. For weapons see the tables on the next section.

Slot ID, this is what determines if the item is armor, a helmet, gloves, boots, etc. Tables below.

#Sockets, Because Satanic items always have the same # of sockets, this can be left at whatever you want and the game will correct it when you load the save. This could be more useful for lower rarity items though im not sure.
