Star Objectives Guide

When i played through Dynasty Warriors 8, i had to use external guides to get all the objective stars. Coming back and seeing how the partial guide on this topic was abandoned, i decided to make this guide for current and future players who get stuck on this aspect of the game.

Starting with Wei, this objective star is completely optional if you desire only to unlock the alternate path.
The star here is unlocked if you manage to defeat Lu Bu before retreating at the start of the stage. This will cause Lu Bu's voice lines in the next stage, "Battle of Hulao Gate" to change.
It is not recommended to do this objective when you first play Wei, as Lu Bu is the strongest enemy officer you'll face in the game.

In this stage, you want to defeat Tao Qian before he flees to unlock an optional battle, "Battle of Puyang".
While much easier than the last one, you need to be fast to defeat him, as you are blocked afew times by officers protecting gates before you can catch up to him.

This is the First battle whose star objectives will affect which path you'll take. You have to aid Cao Ang and Cao Anming before you leave the castle or before they are defeated.
In my experience, as long as you don't take too long, you can easily save the two of them.
Now if you want to unlock the Optional "Battle of Xiapi", you have to abandon Cao Ang and Cao Anming.

This mission's objective is to defeat the reinforcement Commanders to allow Guo Jia to withdraw.
This is relatively simple, Just follow the tasks given to you in the mission and right before defeating the last of the commanders, destroy the enemy reinforcements.

The last objective to unlock alternative Chibi is to defeat Xu Shu Before going to Cao Ren.
To do this, follow the path to Cao Ren, but before going North to him, keep going east to Xu Shu.

The star objective here is to simply talk to Guo Jia and beat the stage.
This requires the stars of "Wan Castle", "Mt. Bailang", and "Xinye" respectively.

The objective here is to defeat all officers prior to going to Sun Quan.
This will end the battle once going to him and prevent reinforcements in the next battle.

The objective is to defeat Huang Zhong before he can get into the main Camp. Shortly after the arbalests are set up, rush to the mountain path in the West to defeat Huang Zhong in time.

The objective here is to prevent Pang De from being defeated. For this, you get to see him in the Post-Battle event. To do this, as soon as you secure the castle, head towards the Flood gates in the Northwest and defeat the Shu troops there.

The last of the Wei objectives, you must prevent the flood attack to get the next stage, "Defense of Xinye".
First, you must not attck the Wu officers marching towards you. Then, attack the Shu messengers. I reccomend attacking the center messenger as he is closest to the Wu base.
Then you want to move towards the officers and then enter the castle and wait till all of them are in their.
That will prevent the Flood attack.

Moving onto Wu, the objective is to defeat Lu Gong before he retreats.
this will affect the route split, unlock "Battle of Liang Province", and Sun Jian appear in "Conquest of Wujun".
Once you reach the enemy main base, Lu Gong will try to escape, so rush towards him the moment you can enter the main base.

This stages objective is to defeat Xiahou Dun and Gan Ji to unlock the mission "Defeat Gan Ji".
Xiahou Dun and Gan Ji both appear in the Northwestern Fortress by the forest. Once Sun Ce reaches south, head up north as that's when Gan Ji appears.

This objective requires you to destroy the structure that generates the sorcery, and this will effect the route split.
After defeating Gan Ji the first time, head to the end of the most western corridor and destroy the structure.

This objective is the most complicated in the game IMO.
Here you must successfully pull of Lu Su's strategies to get the route split and let Zhou Yu appear in
"Battle of Jing Province".
I recommend using Lu Su. After saving Gan Ning, head North and follow the red line. Once Yue Jin's passes you attack him from the cliff. Afterwards, go through the 2 red line, while attacking any officer who spots you quickly.

This mission requires that, once again, Lu Su strategies succeed in order to get the route split and allow Lu Su to show up in "Battle of Hefei".
The conditions change based on which character you choose.
As Lu Meng or Zhou Yu, attack the bases without going near the center northwestern base until the 2 other groups reach it.
As Lu Su or Han Dang, go down the East and Western routes respectively.

This is where the route split occurs. Should you of completed the objectives stated necessary before, Zhou Yu should appear and talking to him opens the alternative path.

The objective here is to prevent Ding feng from being routed by Zhang Liao.
When Jia Xu ambushes the main camp, stay in the North by Ding feng until Zhang Liao comes out.
Defeat Zhang Liao.
