Top Tips

  • If a red dragon attacks a shop keeper, the shop keeper will flee from the dragon. Once the keeper leaves the shop all items inside will become free.

  • Small cave rooms can contain invisible chests that only show up on the minimap. We're the moving blue pixel, the chest shows up in orange. Standing next to the chest reveals it.

  • When fighting red bats. Move on the opposite floor to the bat. If you're moving on the coloured disco floor and the bat is moving on normal ground, you'll never collide and get hurt, no matter which direction you move.

  • Barrels and crates can be pushed into spike traps to break them open and drop what's inside. It also destroy the trap.

  • If a wall tile has an edge visible it means there is an open floor next to it. So break these to reveal hidden cave rooms.

  • If a tempo trap is blown up after activating, the tempo change will not reset until the end of the level.
  • This technique is great for speedrunner as it can allow you to move faster.

  • Always check for explosive mushrooms in shops when playing zone 2, as they'll destroy the shop walls and provide free gold.

  • Buffering is when you dig agaisnt a wall to stand still without losing your groove chain.

  • If you find a wall of stone or crypt in an unbroken square this will always contain a rare item. So it's worth finding a way inside.

  • If you find yourself without a way to break strong walls. You can manipulate powerful creatures to break the walls for you, such as the red dragon, or a minotaur. This can be especially useful for getting into cracked walls, but it doesn't work for breaking cracked shop walls.

  • Shrines will drop items when bombed, the item dropped is always the same for each type of shrine, but different if the shrine has been activated or not.
