Introduction

There are several unsolved mysteries which are perfect for Commanders seeking endgame challenges.

From mythical planets to alien conspiracies, here are some mysteries compiled. Should I find some others, I'll make sure to add it to the list.

(Before you get excited, this is edited and not in-game...as far as I know...)

1. Raxxla – The Ultimate Enigma

  • What is it? A legendary planet or system, rumored to be a gateway to other universes. Confirmed to exist in-game, but no one’s found it.
  • Why Hunt? The holy grail for explorers and lore enthusiasts. Uncovering Raxxla could redefine your legacy.
  • What to Do:
    • Search obscure systems near the Galactic Core or Bubble for clues.
    • Check Codex entries, GalNet, and listening posts for hints.
    • Join various groups teaming up to uncover more about Raxxla, each with their own theories where to find Raxxla and what it can be.
  • Challenge: No clear leads; it’s a needle in a galactic haystack.
  • Status: Completely unsolved. Some speculate it’s tied to cryptic puzzles or permit-locked systems.

2. The Dark Wheel – Shadowy Secrets

  • What is it? A mysterious faction linked to Raxxla, operating from Shinrarta Dezhra.
  • Why Hunt? Unraveling their secrets might lead to Raxxla or hidden bases.
  • What to Do:
    • Take missions from The Dark Wheel in Shinrarta Dezhra (needs Elite rank or Founder status).
    • Search systems like LFT 509 for hidden bases or signals.
    • Study old GalNet articles for lore.
  • Challenge: Limited evidence beyond faction presence.
  • Status: Unsolved, with speculative ties to Raxxla.

3. Thargoid Origins – Alien Agenda

  • What is it? The Thargoids’ homeworld, motives, and history remain unclear despite their active presence (Titans, Maelstroms).
  • Why Hunt? Offers combat, exploration, and research for dynamic endgame content.
  • What to Do:
    • Investigate Thargoid sites (Non-Human Signal Sources) for artifacts.
    • Join Anti-Xeno Initiative[antixenoinitiative.com] for combat missions.
    • Analyze Thargoid transmissions for hidden messages.
  • Challenge: Key areas like Col 70 Sector are permit-locked.
  • Status: Partially solved (e.g., Thargoid structures found), but core questions linger.

4. Guardian Remnants – Ancient Clues

  • What is it? Extinct alien race with ruins and tech. Questions remain about their AI or undiscovered sites.
  • Why Hunt? Combines exploration with Guardian module unlocks.
  • What to Do:
    • Explore known Guardian sites (Synuefe, Vela Dark Region) or hunt for new ones.
    • Scan beacons and structures for data.
  • Challenge: Most sites are cataloged, but hidden ruins may exist.
  • Status: Partially solved, with potential for new discoveries.

5. Alvin Deefer & The Shady Lady – A Hidden Wreck

  • What is it? A pilot and his ship, referenced in a WISE 0855-0714 listening post, pursued by a crime lord.
  • Why Hunt? A niche mystery for smaller-scale investigations.
  • What to Do:
    • Search WISE 0855-0714 for wrecks or signals.
    • Check nearby systems for related clues.
  • Challenge: Few clues and no confirmed finds.
  • Status: Unsolved, with no major breakthroughs.

Tips for Mystery Hunters

  • Gear Up: Use Detailed Surface Scanners, FSD boosters, and SRVs. Xeno Scanners help with Thargoid/Guardian sites.
  • Community: Among the official forums, there are plenty of alternatives where Commanders can gain a bunch of information.
    • Canonn Research[canonn.science]: Top resource for mysteries.
    • r/EliteDangerous: Discuss findings.
    • Anti-Xeno Initiative[antixenoinitiative.com]: Thargoid combat hub.
    • For interesting finds, I'm pretty sure Commander on the Steam discussions are also welcoming news on mysteries.
  • Immerse: Read Codex, GalNet, and novels (Reclamation, Premonition) for lore.
  • Stay Updated: Mysteries evolve with patches—check GalNet post-updates.
