A Guide For All Missable Achievements

Finish the game on the "Death March!" difficulty level

You have to finish the game on death march difficulty, do not change it until you have finished the main game or you won’t get the achievement. Note that it does not affect hearts of stone and blood and wine achievements, once you get this achievement you will also get both “Passed the Trial” and “Ran the Gauntlet” achievements.

Complete the subplot involving Keira Metz.

You will meet her during the main quest Hunting a Witch in Velen. Continue with Wandering in the Dark quest, help her in the Magic Lamp side quest then complete the following side quests:
1- An Invitation from Keira Metz
2- A Towerful of Mice
3- A Favor for a Friend
4- For the Advancement of Learning
And send her to Kaer Morhen during the last quest or you will miss the Full Crew achievement.
(you need to complete her subplot before The Isle of Mists)

Complete the subplot about choosing Skellige's ruler.

After you arrive in Skellige and complete the quest The King Is Dead - Long Live The King! you will automatically receive 2 side quests to help Crach's children:

- Possession (Cerys's quest to help Udalryk on Spikeroog).
- The Lord of Undvik (Hjalmar's quest to slay the giant on Undvik).

complete both and then follow the side quest King's Gambit at Kaer Trolde.
After the bears attack the feast choose to side with either Cerys or Hjalmar and complete the quest. (you must complete it before The Isle of Mists or it will fail)
Afterwards, follow the Coronation quest and see who will become king/queen.
(Hjalmar will then be available to recruit for the Full Crew achievement)

Take part in the assassination of King Radovid.

Basically you have to help assassinate king Radovid V The witless for this achievement, and to do that:

- After you talk with Radovid during the main quest A Favor For Radovid, He will ask you to find Philippa Eilhart for him and give you the quest Redania's Most Wanted, Complete it however you like.

- During the main quest Get Junior Vernon Roche will ask you to help him with Ves,
Talk to him at his hideout and help him with An Eye For An Eye quest and make sure to keep Ves alive as she can die during the quest.
(you'll need to do this quest and keep Ves alive to be able to recruit Roche and Ves for the Full Crew achievement).

- Complete Triss' subplot :
After escaping the witch hunters' outpost during the main quest Count Reuven's Treasure, Triss will ask you to help her with something, Talk to her at her apartment and follow the quest A Matter of Life and Death (there's a small gwent tournament with missable cards during the quest)
after that start Now or Never quest and help her escape with the Mages, Then Dijkstra will talk to you and start the quest A Deadly Plot.

- Complete the quest A Deadly Plot (and make sure to play gwent with Thaler after the quest to get a missable gwent card).

(Note that all the previous steps must be completed before The Isle of Mists)

- When you find Philippa Eilhart during the main quest Blindingly Obvious Dijkstra will try to stop you from taking her, you must choose to bribe him with information about Emhyr's plans (do not break his leg).

- The quest Reason Of State will be available now, complete it and you should get the achievement.
(must be completed before the quest On Thin Ice)

Bring all possible allies to Kaer Morhen for the battle against the Hunt.

You need to recruit 7 specific allies to get this, there are more allies but they are optional and not required for this achievement.

during the main story, After you lift Avallach's curse at Kaer Morhen, you will get the Brothers in Arms quests to ask your allies for help against the wild hunt, do not continue with the main quest until you recruit the 7 necessary allies for this achievement, which are:

- Zoltan :
just talk to him.

- Triss :
she will always be there regardless of what you do.

- Roche:
his quest An Eye For An Eye must be completed and then talk to him.
(you must keep Ves alive during that quest)

- Ves:
she comes with Roche.

- Ermion:
just talk to him.

- Hjalmar:
Complete the subplot about choosing Skellige's ruler (see previous achievement Kingmaker)
and then talk to the king/queen of Skellige.

- Keira Metz:
complete her subplot and send her to Kaer Morhen.
(see previous achievement Friends With Benefits )

Complete all witcher contracts.

This achievement is missable because of some contracts that could fail like "An Elusive Thief".
With Patch 1.07 Contract: Devil by the Well was removed as part of the requirements for this achievement.
There are 24 contracts required for this achievement, 10 in Velen, 8 in Novigrad and 6 in Skellige.
You do not need to kill all the monsters. only completing the contracts will count.

Missable contract achievements:

Even Odds: Kill 2 monsters you have a contract on without using Signs, potions, mutagens, oils or bombs.
it's missable because there's only a limited number of contracts.
You need to kill any 2 contract monsters without using signs, potions, mutagens, oils or bombs.
i recommend completing both the White Lady and The Merry Widow contracts without using Signs, potions, mutagens, oils or bombs for this achievements.

Fearless Vampire Slayer: Complete the contract on Sarasti.
you will miss this achievement if you do not fully investigate and learn of the Vampire.

The Doppler Effect: Resolve the doppler problem in Novigrad.
this contract will fail if you failed to catch the doppler before he escapes.

Woodland Spirit: Complete the contract on the Woodland Spirit.
Start the side quest In the Heart of the Woods by either through the notice or by finding the group on the road southwest out of Fayrlund
Then you need to side with Sven (the guy who wants to kill the beast) and kill the Leshen
You will miss the achievement if you choose to side with the elder and not kill the beast.

- Mysterious Tracks: from Lindenvale's notice board.

- Phantom of the Trade Route: from Benek, talk to the refugee.
- Shrieker: from notice on Crow's Perch's notice board. (Shrieker achievement).
- Swamp Thing: from notice on Downwarren's notice board.
- Woodland Beast: from the notice on the Border Post's notice board.
- The Mystery of the Byways Murders: from notice on Oreton's notice board. (Fearless
Vampire Slayer achievement).
- The Merry Widow: from Lindenvale's notice board.

Novigrad:
- An Elusive Thief: from Notice Board in Hierrach Square. (The Doppler Effect achievement).
- The Apiarian Phantom: from Notice Board located in Yantra.
- Deadly Delights: from Notice Board in Hierrach Square.
- The White Lady: from Farcorners' notice board.
- Doors Slamming Shut: from Notice Board in Hierarch Square. (Ashes to Ashes
achievement).
- Lord of the Wood: from Notice Board at the Cunny of the Goose Inn.
- The Oxenfurt Drunk: from Notice Board in Oxenfurt. (the quest will fail if your toxicity is too
high when you get drunk at the inn)
- The Creature from the Oxenfurt Forest: from Notice Board in Oxenfurt.

Skellige:
- Missing Son: from Notice Board located in Rannvaig. (Fiend or Foe achievement).
- Strange Beast: from the Notice Board in Larvik.
- The Phantom of Eldberg: from Notice Board in Arinbjorn.
- Muire D'yaeblen: from Kaer Trolde Harbor's notice board.
- Here Comes the Groom: from Notice Board in Svorlag.
- Dragon: from Notice Board in Fyresdal.

- Brawl Master
Complete all fistfighting quests in Velen, Skellige and Novigrad.

you need to complete all of these quests at any point of the game:

- Fists of Fury: Velen: start this quest at any fistfight happening in the Inn in Lindenvale, Inn at The Crossroads or at Blackbough.

- Fists of Fury: Skellige: start this quest at any fistfight happening at Kaer Trolde Harbor, Arinbjorn or Harviken. (you will face Olaf during this quest and obtain the Brawler achievement)

- Fists of Fury: Novigrad: to start this quest go to The Golden Sturgeon in Novigrad and talk to Master Claytop inside.

- Master of the Arena: you must complete this quest first to be able to do Fists of Fury: Champion of Champions. Start the quest by going to Hov on Spikeroog and talking with the guards in the arena's tower.

- Fists of Fury: Champion of Champions: you will get this quest after completing all the previous Fists Of Fury quests, but you will have to do Master of the Arena quest first to continue and fight your opponent

losing a fistfight will fail the quest (except master of the arena)
if you lose a fistfight reload the save and try again.
some fighters will ask you to throw the match (don't do that man)


- Brawler
Defeat Olaf, the Skellige champion of unarmed combat.

you unlock this achievement when you beat Olaf during Fists Of Fury: Skellige


- Fist of the South Star
Defeat an opponent in a fistfight without taking any damage.

this is missable because there's a limited number of fistfights in the game.
it doesn't have to be during the fistfighting quests, just make sure you win any fistfight in the game without taking damage during the fight.

Win all the horse races in the game.

For this achievement you have to win 11 horse races in the game, 3 in Velen, 4 in Novigrad and 4 in Skiellige.

The races can be done at any point of the game (Novigrad races won't be available until you complete Get Junior main quest).
You will miss the achievement only if you lose a race, reload a save and try again if that happens.


- Velen:
do Races: Crow's Perch quest, start it from Crow's Perch notice board.


- Novigrad:
do Race: The Great Erasmus Vegelbud Memorial Derby quest, after finishing the main quest Get Junior, start this quest by picking up the invitation near the announcer at Hierarch Square, or by directly signing up for the race at the race tracks near the Vegelbud Residence.


- Skellige:

do The Heroes' Pursuits: Kaer Trolde: talk to the race master at Rannvaig and win the race.

do The Heroes' Pursuits: Fayrlund: you will find the race master at the road far south of the Rannvaig signpost, talk to him and win the race.

do The Heroes' Pursuits: Fyresdal: find the race master between Blandare and Palisade, in the middle of the road west of the big lake, talk to him and win the race.

do The Heroes' Pursuits: For the Goddess' Glory!: This quest will start at any of the previous horse races on Ard Skellige, the race will be held at Larvik only after you win the previous 3 races, defeat the champion and win the race.

- Card Collector
Acquire all gwent cards available in the base version of the game.

To get all the missable gwent cards at the game:

- Play the Nilfgaardian Nobleman at the royal gardens in Vizima after your audience with Emhyr.

- Play the baron (he will become unavailable after Return to Crookback Bog quest).

- Play Olivier the innkeeper at King Fisher and buy all of the cards he is selling (he could die during the quest Now Or Never).

- Join the small gwent tournament during A Matter Of Life And Death and win all 3 matches.

- Play Thaler right after the quest A Deadly Plot.

- Play Roche at his hideout (he could die during Reason Of State).

- Play Dijkstra at his bathhouse (he could die during Reason Of State).

- Do the quest A Dangerous Game (after saving Dandelion) and take the cards as your reward.

- Join the high stakes tournament at the Passiflora and win all 4 matches (Gwent Master achievement).

- Play Madman Lugos (he could die during The Sunstone main quest).

- Play Crach (he will die towards the end of the game).

-Play Lambert during his quest Following The Thread or at Kaer Morhen (he will no longer be found after The Battle Of Kaer Morhen).


- Gwent Master
Defeat Tybalt and win the gwent tournament held at the Passiflora.

to start High Stakes quest read the notice from the notice board near St. Gregory's Bridge in Novigrad.
It is recommended that you play with a strong Northern Realms deck.
If you lose a match make sure to reload a save and try again.
Gwent difficulty level has no effect on any of the achievements.

- Let the Good Times Roll!
Participate in all the activities at the wedding.

At the wedding during the main quest Dead Man's Party, you will participate in some activities.
every activity is shown on the map, so they are very easy to find.
Make sure to do all of them before talking to Master Mirror.


- Shopaholic
Buy all the items put on the block at the Borsodis' Auction House.

At the auction during the main quest Open Sesame!, you will need to buy all three of the items by bidding each time the option comes to you.
you will need at least 670 coins to buy all of them.


- Curator of Nightmares
Recreate all of Iris' nightmares in the Painted World.

During the main quest Scenes From a Marriage you will have to restore all Iris' memories when you enter the Painted World by completing the setup for some missing items in the scenes. There will be 8 memories total in this quest. all of them are story related and cannot be missed except the first one.
The missable one that you need to recreate will be right in front of you right after you enter the painted world, at the courtyard gazebo. solve it and the rest can't be missed.


- When It's Many Against One…
Provoke all Iris von Everec's Nightmares into fighting you at the same time and defeat them.

During the same quest Scenes From a Marriage you will fight a bunch of creepy Olgierds, only one will attack at a time unless you provoke them, this exactly what you want to do, the easiest way to do this is by hitting every one of them with Aard so you don't have to worry about accidentally killing one of them with your sword.


- I Wore Ofieri Before It Was Cool
Collect all available Ofieri armor and horse gear, and at least one Ofieri sword.

This achievement is missable only if you sell the Ofieri saddle, Do not sell the Ofieri saddle

Talk to the merchant at Upper Mill, and buy the Ofieri blinders, Ofieri saddlebags and either the Ofieri decorated saber or the diagram: Ofieri saber (you have to craft it if you choose to buy the diagram). You do not need the crossbow. Then, mention his horse and he'll offer to race you. You must race and win against him to get the Ofieri stock saddle.

Now, complete the secondary quest From Ofier's Distant Shores to get four diagrams to craft the four remaining pieces of armor for this achievement. You must then go to a master armorer to craft these for you.

- David and Golyat
Kill Golyat with a crossbow bolt to his eye.

right after you arrive in Toussaint you will fight a giant named Golyat, hit him in the eye with a crossbow bolt, you can use Northern Wind bomb to slow him down and make the shot easier,
You'll know if you got it right when he drops dead after the shot.


- Embodiment of the Five Virtues
Be given Aerondight by the Lady of the Lake.

during your time in Toussaint you will get many chances to prove that you live by the five chivalric virtues (Generosity, Valor, Honor, Compassion and Wisdom)
so this achievement is very hard to miss.
the easiest way to do this right after you arrive in Toussaint:

- start the quest There Can Be Only One from the notice board at the Gran'place and continue with it and talk to the hermit

- to prove your Valor: Start Feet as Cold as Ice quest from the woman near the Nilfgaardian embassy in Beauclair and help François kill Grottore.

- to prove your Generosity: Go to the Main Square of Beauclair and receive a letter from Yennefer or Triss and make sure to pay the delivery boy 5 coins.

- to prove your Compassion: Continue with the main quest The Beast of Toussaint and spare the Shaelmaar's life.

- to prove your Wisdom: Start the quest Father Knows Worst from the notice board at the Gran'place and continue with it, Hugo will ask you to attack his brothers and the men with them, refuse by telling him "No one dies".

- to prove your Honor: start the quest Till Death Do You Part from the notice board at the Gran'place, solve the problem in the cemetery, then return to Lanzano and tell him that there was no monsters in the cemetery.

- after you have proven the five virtues, return to the hermit, fight him and beat him, then you will be given Aerondight by the Lady of the Lake.


- A Knight to Remember
Obtain a flawless victory in all the competitions during the knights' tourney.

After fighting the Shaelmaar during the main quest, The Beast of Toussaint, you'll automatically be given the quest The Warble of a Smitten Knight. speak to Guillaume and agree to enter the tournament under any name.
This is a lengthy side quest, you will need to win in 4 competitions: Shooting contest, Horse race, Arena fight and fighting the champion Gregoire de Gorgon.
If you fail in any of them, reload a save and try again.
At one point of the quest you will be asked if you want to continue the tourney or not, make sure to continue and win.
(the quest will fail if not completed before starting the main quest Capture the Castle)


- Last Action Hero
Be decorated with the Order of Vitis Vinifera.

- Kling of the Clink
Serve time in Toussaint.

You can only obtain one of these two achievements in a playthrough, the easiest and fastest way to get both:

- During the main quest The Night of Long Fangs choose to find Syanna instead of the unseen elder
- During Beyond Hill and Dale... in the land of a thousand fables, ignore the Little Flint Girl and collect the three magic beans, do not plant them yet, do everything you want to do in the land of a thousand fables then make a manual save before talking to the Little Flint Girl.
- If you choose to retrieve the ribbon from the Little Flint Girl and continue with the story you will get the Last Action Hero achievement. If you choose not to retrieve the ribbon from the Little Flint Girl and continue with the story you will get the Kling of the Clink achievement.
- Choose to do either, then you can reload the save you made and choose the other.


- The Grapes of Wrath Stomped
Help unite the warring vineyards and have a wine named in your honor.

- Start the side quest Wine Wars: Belgaard by picking up a notice from pretty much any notice board in Toussaint, or simply meeting the people at its starting point (Plegmund's Bridge).

- You will be given two additional quests, each with 5 tasks: Wine Wars: Coronata and Wine Wars: Vermentino.

- While doing the 10 tasks you will come across 2 Letters and a key, after reading the letters and picking up the key you'll get the quest Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina, You must do this quest before you turn in the other two Wine Wars quests (you can complete the 10 tasks just make sure not to turn them in).

- During Wine Wars: The Deus in the Machina find and read the Stocktaking Report, then go back to Plegmund's Bridge and share the evidence you found.

- If you haven't completed the 10 tasks at this point both Wine Wars quests will combine into Wine Wars: Consorting. Once complete, turn it in. If you have already completed the tasks, go with them to Belgaard Vineyard.

- They will ask you then to help with one more quest Wine Wars: Belgaard with 5 more tasks, complete them, then they will tell you to drop back in after 3 days and when you do they will name a wine in your honor, unlocking the achievement.
