How to catch the Sea Guardian [P4G]

Step One: Talk to the old man at Samegawa Riverbank, he doesn't appear on rainy days or at night, so come when it's sunny or cloudy, he'll tell you he's lost his fishing hook, this will let you give it to him once you've found it! (this won't take a time slot)

Step Two: Talk to the kid at Tatsuhime Shrine, he'll ask for a random soda that you can either get from the vending machine up the road or outside Shiroku Store, giving him the soda will cause him to give a Tatsuhime Ladybug.

Step Three: For this next step, you'll have to come to Shirouku Store at night. when you arrive the bar-lady will start telling you about how her fish won't eat, it'll then notice your ladybug and prompt you to give the ladybug to the fish, if you do you'll notice the fish-hook in it's mouth and the bartender will give it to you.

Step Four: Return to the old man. he'll ask you if you have his fishhook, and answering yes will see his immense gratitude, granting you the River Rod!


Step Negative One: you may be asking the guide maker, Why do i even need to catch the River Guardian? and the answer to that is that you need the Sea Rod.

Step Zero: To even entertain the thought of catching the Sea Guardian, you'll need to unlock the aforementioned sea, Shichiri Beach. the beach in question can be unlocked by Riding your Scooter six Times, and while that may sound severe, this will only take Four Timeslots, as the third and sixth rides will not take up your day due to unlocking new locations.

Step One: Now that THAT'S all over and done with, you'll need the bait for the River Guardian, an Inaba Jewel Beetle. to catch the beetle, first obtain a Red Goldfish, this can be gotten one of two ways, either from Tanaka's Amazing Commodities on October tenth, (I highly recommend you don't do this unless you have gotten stuck with the first step), or to catch it with your river rod in the river. (It's favored bait is Bread Crumbs!)

Step Two: Go to Tatsuhime Shrine At Night, there you'll see a woman in a white kimono who will want the red goldfish you recently obtained. give her the fish and she'll reward you with the Bug Net. show this to the kid you swapped sodas with to get his permission to use the bug net you acquired from the ghostly woman.

Step Three: Now that you have the net, go and catch bugs in the shrine At Night, allowing you to get an Inaba Jewel Beetle. This will only work once you've gone to the sea, seen that you can't fish, and subsequently talked to the old man at the riverbank. (catching bugs won't exhaust your precious timeslot!)

Step Four: On a rainy day, preferably with a high diligence stat, cast your beetle for the River Guardian at Samegawa Riverbank. I can't give you much advice for this stepm other than to ask the old man for tutorials, and to reload your save if you fail.

Step Five: The next Non-Rainy day, Show the old man the Guardian. apon seeing this display of anglering mastery, he'll award you with the Sea Rod


Step One: Acquire a [h]Genji Beetle,[/h] Unlike with the ladybug, i actually recommend you get this one from Tanaka's Amazing Commities, as the alternative isn't great and catching this bug took me forty save reloads, none of which were worth it.

Step Two: On a Rainy Day or Night, set out for Shichiri and cast you Genji beetle. your first catch will always be a bus stop sign, so don't be discouraged if you end up getting that.

Step Three: when catching Ol' Moby ♥♥♥♥ here, you'll want to hold the analog stick up, along with the directing you want it to go into. this makes the handling much easier, and in general made the fight seem much more in my control. you'll also want Beginner Fishing, as it saves a LOT of time with saves and reloads. some guides say to read Advanced fishing as well, but I'd say to only do that it you're having a lot of trouble with the sea guardian's minigame, i suck at fishing and i didn't need it.


I can't swap sodas with the kid! - this is the only scenario where i'll reccomend getting the red goldfish from Tanaka. if you missed this and the soda swapping, you'll have to wait for new game plus, i'm so sorry.
