How To Make Marauders Suffer

Marauders. Former Night Sentinels corrupted by Hell Energy. An annoying boss, a game journalists worst nightmare. And they sure give you a scare at the beginning of Taras Nabad. But how do we deal with them? To start, Marauders have four attacks they'll use, and each one follows conditions. A shotgun will deal solid damage at close range. A ranged projectile will pester you from afar. If you shoot the Marauder's shield, they'll summon a dog that chases you down. But at medium range, (which I still have no idea how far away "medium range" is) his eyes will flash green, and he'll swing forward his axe. Shoot him while his eyes are green, and he'll be stunned. This is your chance.

Great, you shot him while his eyes flashed green. But what do you do now? Well, I could tell you some crazy quick-switching combo. But, if you're reading a guide, you're probably no quick-switch god. A simple way to harass him is with a simple SSG shot, press Q, and fire a Ballista Shot, then repeat. If you want to keep it going, you can falter him by shooting the ground next to him with a Ballista shot after switching back to the SSG to bypass reload. You can use upgraded grenades with an SSG shot to falter him here, or keep using the Ballista. Shoot the sucker enough and he'll fall. Now, if you're replaying levels, its a bit easier with the Unmakyr unlocked. Falter him with grenades and SSG, then blast 5-10 Unmakyr rounds into him to put him in a glory kill state. You can keep the combo going with quick moves, and good falter timing.

Now, if you've played the Ancient Gods at all, you shouldn't have too much struggle with Marauders. But when you have Marauders in a fight with like, 40 Imps and a Carcass or two trying to kill you as well, it gets tougher. A good way to take them out is the Sentinel Hammer. As someone who struggles with Marauders, this is a sign from god. I love the Sentinel Hammer. Once you falter that Marauder, freeze the suckers around you, and HAMMER TIME that idiot in the head. If you did it right, the blue effect above his head will turn orange. Start out with a grenade, SSG, Ballista, and around 3-6 Unmakyr shots obliterate him. Freeze him as well for an added health booth after the Hammer, and even more damage. if you don't have BFG Cells handy for your Unmakyr, quick switching for an SSG-Ballista finish will do the trick. Shatter his dreams, his happiness, and his heart just like You shattered The Father's Life Orb.
