How to unlock tainted characters (Repentance)

Tainted characters are essentially another version of the basic ones.

You can play as them by pressing the E button on the character selection screen.

They introduce a lot of new gimmics, and most of them are harder then their counterpart.

To unlock tainted characters, you need to go to the beast.

In the hallway leading to mom's room, use a red key, cracked key or the soul of cain.

If this is your first time fighting the beast, the chest in mom's room will contain red key (wich is also the way you unlock it).

You can get a cracked key by leaving any trinket in either the boss room or treasure room.

The soul of cain is unlocked by beating Hush and boss rush with tainted cain and can randomly spawn in your run.

Enter the room that will open, and touch the tainted version of your character.

This will need to be done with every character to unlock all tainted variants.

In conclusion, get the cracked key, red key or soul of cain, go to the beast fight and touch the child laying there.
