All working symbols/characters for TF2 Name Tags & Desc. Tags

If the description wasn't clear enough, this guide is about characters, emojis, fonts, symbols, and other stuff that works with tf2 name tags & description tags.

These should ALL work in the base game. I'm testing this with name tags only, using mastercomfig and STAR_ Hud remastered. No mods I have should affect testing, so this should work in the base game.

I'm using this website to generate fonts, [tools.picsart.com] and this website to get symbols from.[www.copyandpastesymbols.net] I will name each font used for whichever ones work, and copy/paste all the alphabet as well. Check spacing before you use a nametag! If the category is missing from the website to this guide, that means none of the fonts there work or they're already in a different category.

But for those who are new to using tags or need to know what i'm talking about, let's run through nametags, binds, and description tags real quick. tf2 usernames are changable through steam.


Name tags are a MISC tool that you can use to name any weapon to something you want, with a character limit of 40. You can find these from either random drops in-game, buying them from the mann. co. store for a dollar, or buying them on the steam market / trading for them with other players for varying prices, either in USD or keys/metal.
This is also, the main reason why i'm making this guide, because name tags are fun to use.


While not as visible as name tags , description tags are a MISC tool that you can use on any weapon to give a custom description of anything you want, with a character limit of 80. You can find these from either random drops in-game, buying them from the mann. co. store for a dollar, or buying them on the steam market / trading for them with other players for varying prices, either in USD or keys/metal.


While not as common as above, Chat binds are something you can make with console, either to say in team chat or say in all-talk chat; being able to either relay important information with your team with the press of a button... or having really unfunny binds to fill up chat or to tick someone off.

You can make a chat bind by doing one of the following:

All-talk Chat Bind
bind (ASSIGNABLE KEY) "say (TEXT YOU WANT TO SAY)"

Team Chat Bind
bind (ASSIGNABLE KEY) "say_team (TEXT YOU WANT TO SAY)"

Gameplay-focused binds aren't AS important unless you're playing competitively, since you can always just say it aloud in voice-chat... If you have competent teammates :^)

❤ (cute heart to use, cuts off a bit of the tip though)
✂ (scissors turn vertical, could be used for a cut-off joke? idk lol)
✗ or ✘ (edgy version of the X, both in normal and bold!)
☣ (in-game, has a circle around it, but cuts off a tiny bit)
☄ (turns into a friggin' meteor with art, which is so cool!)
† (just your average christian symbol. nothing crazy, but looks good)
❖ (looks like a shield? but shows up nearly perfectly)
✈ (cuts off a bit, but perfect dark edgy humor for 12 year olds)
♥ or ♡ (whole and empty heart, BOTH are fully there, kinda cute!)

I hope this guide helps you in making a really good name or description for your TF2 items.

I would appreciate any awards to this guide, as this took me genuinely way too long to do, and it still could use improvement, BUT I think i got everything..? Again, apologies if things look janky, but I'd rather have something to pull from instead of googling new fonts/symbols everytime I use a nametag.
