BF BC2: Common problems' fixes

Some solutions only worked for some people - NO GUARANTEES it will work for you

Low fps, black screen, other graphical problems possible solutions:

1) In game, go to Settings -> Video, and set 'Overall Quality' to 'low'.

2) NVidia GPU users: you can try drivers version 340.52, 353.62, 355.30, 355.60, 358, 361.43, 368.39, 373.06

3) Find this file:

Documents/BFBC2/settings.ini -> (open with wordpad or notepad)

Look for this line:
DxVersion=auto

-> change 'auto' to 9, then save file.

4) Try running windows update, and downloading the Security update for Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable 2005.

5) You can also try editing some lines in the settings.ini file to change values to low/false/'0' for what works on your PC: as an example, change the 'RenderAheadLimit' value from '2' to '0'

Crashes, freezes

Some hardware monitoring programs running in the background may cause crashes, freezes. Some examples which may cause problems on some systems:

MSI Afterburner
EVGA Pricision X
ASUS AI Suite+

Lag & ping community derived possible solutions:

- run game as administrator & Windows 7 compatibility mode
- re-enter the fullscreen of the game multiple times using keyboard shortcut: LEFT ALT + ENTER
- ALT-TAB multiple times

Punkbuster problems

You may not be having the same problem as me, but when I got this problem:
RESTRICTION: Service Communication Failure: PnkBstrB.exe initialization failed.

-> or any punkbuster problem, the below solution works for me (don't know if it will for you)
Download this:
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbsvc/pbsvc.exe

Restart the PC, and run pbsvc.exe

(also for me, I discovered that certain versions Razer Cortex (may include other programs/antivirus as well?) crashes punkbuster

Can't enter servers/lost connection problem:

1) Logout, then re-login again.

Game reinstalls everytime started

Steam > steamapps > common > (folder of game having the issue) > _CommonRedist > vcredist > 2012 (or similar) > and then deleting the installscript.vdf located there.

or

go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common/(game having the issue) then removing the common redist folder in there
