New England Land Marks with Real Location

Madison Boulder (Favreau Boulder)
Madison, New Hampshire

Located in Madison New Hampshire, this giant granite chunk is a must see if you find yourself in the Mount Washington Valley. Just 15 minutes from North Conway New Hampshire.

Mount Washington Observatory (Mount Alcott Obervatory)
Sargent's Purchase, New Hampshire

Located in Sargent's Purchase and standing tall at 6,288 feet is Mount Washington. On top of Mount Washington is a weather observatory. Some of the worlds highest wind gusts have been recorded on top of Mount Washington.

Conway Scenic Railroad Freight Yard (Smith Scenic Railroad)
North Conway, New Hampshire

In North Conway New Hampshire, the Conway Scenic Railroad main station and freight yard is located. The Scenic Railroad runs from Conway New Hampshire, up thru Franconia Notch and the base of Mount Washington. Along the way it travels over high bridges, cliff sides, mountain rivers. It's a pretty cool ride.

The Saco River Covered Bridge (Poe Covered Bridge)
North Conway, New Hampshire


One of the first covered bridges I ever traveled thru in my life was this one. It used to connect Conway to North Conway before a modern bridge was put in a few hundred feet down. It's still standing, and a sight to see. Many river goers will float underneath this bridge, and many other covered bridges on their drunken trip. Mount Liberty Flume Gorge (Conway Pond Trail)
Lincoln, New Hampshire

Unfortunately this model doesn't do this area justice. The Flume Gorge is a platform maze of wooden walking platforms around giant granite ledge walls, near waterfalls, thru glacial carvings in granite. It's beautiful and a must see if a person finds themselves in the Mount Washington Valley. Frog Rock (The Old Toad)
New Boston, New Hampshire

Around Maine and New Hampshire there are chunks of granite boulders, similar to the Madison boulder Frog Rock traveled on down with a glacier and decided to rest where it stands in New Boston.

Paddock Mine (Mafrousse Mines)
Lyman, New Hampshire

Across the state there are numerous mines and quarries, this perticular one in Northern New Hampshire was the site of a major copper extraction operation.

Ruggles Mine (Tocqueville Cave)
Grafton, New Hampshire

Ruggles mine was a used as a gemstone quarry, amethyst, mica, feldspar, and beryl were popular stones to extract from this site.

Madame Sherri's Castle Ruins (Bramare Mansion)
West Chesterfield, New Hampshire

In 1959, Sherri's “castle” was vandalized, destroying furnishings. Heartbroken, Madame Sherri vowed not to return. Three years later, the house burned down completely, leaving only the stonework behind.

Sherman's Farm Corn Maze (Padavona Corn Maze)
East Conway, New Hampshire

There is a lot of speculation with this one, where as there are numerous corn mazes around Maine and New Hampshire. Sherman's Farm stuck out to me when I saw corn maze, well because it's 5 minutes down the road, and they do neat patterns every year. Like this one, a sad reminder of a QB, that had it all, and lost it for a below .500 season.

Sherman's Farm (Gilman's Pumpkin Fields)
East Conway, New Hampshire

Again, I am far stretching with this one as well, as there are hand fulls of Farms and Farm Stands in the Mount Washington Valley. First one I thought of, so here it is until someone has a different idea on the developers inspiration for Gilman's Pumpkin Fields.

Tuckerman's Ravine
Mount Washington, New Hampshire


Carved into the South Eastern side of Mount Washington is Tuckerman's Ravine, a popular place in the winter for skiiers to hike up and ski down. In the summer, a popular hiking destination.
Altho there are no Landmarks near by, in game this is located directly behind Mount Alcott Observatory, so geographically it fits with Mount Washington Observatory and where Tuckerman's would be. And also I couldn't help but notice this looks strikingly similar to Tucks seen from Hermit Lake. Cathedral Ledge
North Conway, New Hampshire


I stumbled upon this as a Lookout Point, noticed the chain linked fence and a cliff face, first thing I thought of was Cathedral Ledge, I could be mistaken and this was just pure coincidence.

Will add more if I come across any.

For me, living in the heart of this expansion (15 minutes from The Conway Scenic Railroad), I found it fun to jump around the reserve and look at the different locations the developers thought would be a good addition to the game. Some were modeled exactly as how they appear, which is great to see the attention to detail. I'm looking forward to exploring more and hopeing other spots will pop out to me.
