Instructions

tl:dr version:

Set Launch options...
-modconfig "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\Red Alert 3\Mods\TheRedAlert\config.txt"

if you play on 1360x768 screen resolution then add -xres 1360 -yres 768 so that it looks like this:

-modconfig "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\Red Alert 3\Mods\TheRedAlert\config.txt" -xres 1360 -yres 768

Long version:

1. Go to the official website and download the latest version (v1.2 - 409MB at the time of writing this)
http://theredalert.cnclabs.com

(if steam removes the link again, just google "the red alert" among the results should be cnclabs website with the download link.

2. Extract the setup somewhere and install the mod (next, next, next, yes yes, it's legit alright, no toolbars or other junk).

3. Now this part is where a lot of people have problems with, how to run the mod??

Right click on the game in your Steam Library, in the General tab, click on Set Launch options...

Copy/paste this:

-modconfig "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\Red Alert 3\Mods\TheRedAlert\config.txt"

I shouldn't have to tell you to replace YOUR_USERNAME with your actual username or to lead the path to the folder you installed the mod into XD

That's about it, now it will launch when you open the game from Steam and go straight into the mod.

However, if you would like to run the original RA3 using Steam, and the mod seperately, instead of the previous Set Launch command, you simply add: -ui

That will load up the Launcher, from there you go to select game, select mod, play...

On a sidenote, nothing to do with this mod really, but the game in general. Sometimes when you try to play skirmish, it doesn't show any maps whatsoever, so to fix that go to:

C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Red Alert 3\Profiles\YOUR_PROFILE\

and delete skirmish.ini

The game will create a new one. This is a known problem since the game launched, but EA never fixed it.
