Deathmatch General Tips

-Basics

  1. Take time to learn the formats of the maps. In the long run, this will decrease the time you need to take to think about where you need to go. Also, it could save your life in more than one occasion.
  2. Use your abilites effectively. Every ability is useful in one way or another. Even Money Bomb can be useful for picking out your target in a crowd. Get used to the feel and flow of your abilities, and you will have a much easier time.
  3. Pay attention to your surroundings. This doesn't just mean the layouot of the maps. Each civilian, chase-breaker and player in the game could be used to your advantage. Plan your attack or defense according to what surrounds you. Don't let this make you vulnerable, though!

Deathmatch Offensive Tips

-Offensive Tips

  1. Always be aware of your target's portrait. If you pay constant attention to the portrait of your target, you will be able to pick them out of a crowd much more easily. In general, this is a good habit to get into, as it makes identifying your target exponentially easier.
  2. Pick abilities according to your playstyle. Many abilities work well in Deathmatch, and you have a variety of options to choose from in terms or offensive abilities. Personally, I reserve my main abilities for defense most of the time because staying alive is very important. However, it's never a bad idea to use your abilities offensively, too. For example, Disguise can be used to hide from both your pursuers and targets.
  3. Know when you can be greedy. If your target is stunned near a group of civilians, by all means, go for that hidden bonus and work towards your variety. However, don't trick yourself into thinking that you're completely safe. Your pursuers can also take advantage of you being distracted and kill you before you kill your target. Be safe!

Deathmatch Defensive Tips

-Defensive Tips

  1. Learn to tell apart civilians and players. If you can tell when a player is coming to kill you instead of a civilian randomly walking towards you, you've already won half the battle. Identifying your pursurer can be done with abilities, too, but learning player movements is essential to landing that sweet, sweet stun. Spend time observing how players move and react to different situations, and be able to differentiate these movements from those of a civilian.
  2. Use your abilities well and often. What's the point of having an ability ready if you save it for three minutes of the match? Make sure to utilize your abilities often, because most of the time you're not wasting them. Yes, you should think about when and where to use it, but make sure that you don't "save" it for that perfect moment... That perfect moment might not come without you using that ability first.
  3. Always go for contested kills. If your pursuer is approaching and you know he or she knows it's you, go for that contested kill. You get an extra 100 points, daze your pursuer, and possibly cut their kill-score in half. Stuns are much better regardless, but always try to make each of your deaths a contested one.
