Bannerlord Money Making Guide 2026: From Mercenary to Millionaire

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord331 views5 favorites1 min readby BC SwordView on Steam ↗

1. Early Game: Fast Capital

When you don't have enough money to establish large trade caravans, use these methods:

[Tournaments: Participate in every city. Win rare horses and armor that can be sold for up to 10,000 denars early on.

Looter Hunting & Slave Trade: Take looters prisoner and sell them to the Ransom Broker in taverns.

High-Yield Quests: Take "Escort Caravan" and "Landowner Needs Manual Labor" (sells prisoners to mines for 3-4x more money).

2. Mid Game: Passive Income Sources

To grow your army, you need a system that generates money even while you sleep.

Workshops:Buy shops for 15,000 - 25,000 denars. The Golden Rule: Open a shop based on what the city’s connected villages produce (e.g., if they produce Silver, open a Silversmith).

Caravans:Assign a companion with high "Trade" or "Roguery" skills. Always choose the "Better Armed" option.

3. Expert Method: Smelting & Smithing

This is currently the fastest and highest-paying method in the game:

The Pugio Trick: Buy cheap Pugio and Tribulus daggers from Imperial cities and smelt them for the highest quality metals (Fine Steel).

Two-Handed Swords & Javelins: Craft high-damage weapons to sell them for 20,000 - 50,000 denars each.

4. Late Game: Conquest Economy

City Prosperity: Upgrade "Marketplaces" and "Aqueducts" to multiply your tax revenue.

War Tributes: Defeat major kingdoms until they agree to pay you daily tributes. This will be your largest income source.
