Installation

Requirements:
This was built for the classic 32-bit PC version of GTA SA, especially the commonly modded 1.0 US executable. I haven't tested in other versions of the game so there is a chance that it might not work in all versions of the game.
  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 1.0 US Exe (PC)
  • ASI Loader

Steps:

  • Download the mod from GitHub.
  • Extract the archive.
  • Copy ControlWastedBustedScreen.asi to your GTA San Andreas folder.
  • Tweak the settings in the configuration file ControlWastedBustedScreen.ini if you dont want the default settings of the mod.
  • Launch the game.

Your game folder should look similar to:

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas ├── gta_sa.exe ├── ControlWastedBustedScreen.asi

Why I Created This Mod

This project started as a personal challenge to learn GTA San Andreas modding.

While developing it, I learned more about:

  • C++
  • Reverse engineering
  • Game memory patching
  • Plugin-SDK
  • ASI plugin development
  • The internal workings of GTA San Andreas

It became my first completed GTA mod in C, and I decided to release it so other players could benefit from it as well.
Future Improvements

Possible future additions:
  • INI configuration file
  • Independent Wasted/Busted toggles
  • Optional fade effects
  • Additional quality-of-life patches
