Character creation.

Culture
Caracter creation

There're 6 cultures you can choose from, character culture will have effect, after capturing a city or a castle of the came culture you will have less problems with straightening things out than someone from different culture because people like to be lead by someone who is the same, (hint by putting someone in charge of the same culture will also help) that's why for new players I'd recommend empire because there's the most of it, but I'm not stopping you from choosing different culture.

character creation

Gender of your character doesn't matter, but height does, as a female you can only marry male npc and as a male only female, if you are taller it's easier (at least in my opinion) to fight, you can change it later by pressing "v", remember you can't change gender of your character later so choose wisely, also you can change banner too by pressing "b".

Skills

skills you choose are important to, skills related to weapons will determent how effective you are with this type of weapon and your troops effectiveness, for a new player I'd recommend going with one handed, bow, some riding andsmithing (trust me smithing will help you with making money early and late game(probably))

weapons and armor

Armor

better stats better armor,

weapons

there are 3 types of damage in this game and real life, slashing, piercing and blunt damage,
every melee weapon can be either one handed, two handed or one/two handed, thrown weapons are always one handed, bows and crossbows are always two handed and some can't be used on horseback, every one handed weapon can be used with a shield.

polearms
polearms are wild in my opinion, if they are slashing type they can kill 3 people in one swing sometimes if it has a good damage, if polearm is piercing type use it only if it's couched or can be used for bracing, because it can do the most damage this way, to couch just go fast on horse and press "x", to brace stay in place and also press "x", blunt polearms are ok too.

<-- my opinion about spears in this game

sword, axe or mace?

all are good just remember to never use spear on foot because of it small damage.

one or two handed?

for beginning I'd recommend one handed because you can use shield and shield can block from every direction.

bow, crossbow or thrown?

every one of it is good, bows are good for mid range and spam, crossbows are good for precision, thrown are good for short range and deal a lot of damage.

Early game. +money

First steps

after making your very cool looking character you will be spawned somewhere on the map (or tutorial zone if you are playing story mode) and after moving you will gain a level, I'd recommend going to a city and participate in a tournament, if there's a tournament in the city there should be a orange helmet added to it's name, talk with tournament guy (after that you can participate from the menu) and participate if city doesn't have a tournament ask that same guy and go to that city, but before recruit few low tier troops to scare away looters, and maybe recruit a companion if there's a good one in the tavern, you can check their stats by pressing "n" and searching them in that menu, also do quests to earn money, reputation etc.

money

buy wood and refine it to charcoal and to make better profit in smithy, also smelt weapons to get parts and exp. (refined charcoal won't increase your trading skill because you made it, not bought it cheap and sold for better price), after saving 15k denars you definitely can buy a workshop or a caravan, both are good for making passive money,

workshops are effective only if your location is good and you have very low to none competition, so choose a workshop that has very small competition and has access to raw material for that workshop, you can reduce competition by buying workshop and and changing what it's producing, and that's how you make monopoly,

if you are planing to start a caravans save more money because caravan can hurt you at the beginning if you don't have some money, also get good companion to lead caravan, by good I mean companion with high riding/scouting/trade skill, riding will increase how fast is the caravan, scouting how fast it can see danger, trade will increase profit.

making weapons is a good way to make lots of money, just buy weapons and smelt them and make better weapons and sell them.

renown

to increase renown just kill looters, do quests and clear hideouts and you should get your clan level higher

tactics

field tactic

tactic 1

"Get khuzait horse archers and simply F1 -> F3" ~Tsan Tsu

if it failed get more khuzait horse archers and repeat.

tactic 2

a lot of infantry and archers defending on a high ground, high ground is always good and enemy troops will have harder time getting to you,

tactic 3

if there's no good high ground find tight spot and commit Leonidas as he did the same thing in Thermopylae 480 BC with his 300 brave soliders and other brave allies that stayed there

tactic 4

if there is no place to hide and there place is very flat go to the edge of the map where your units will spawn, that way you can't be attacked from the back

City/Castle defence/attack

let your companions to do it, if there are none your units will fight by themselves.

mid to late

clan

max clan level is 6, every level from level 1 increases your max party size and other stuff,

at tier 1 you can work as mercenary, as mercenary you can ride with army, you can siege, but you can't get any real estate.

at level 2 you can be vassal and you can do same things as mercenary but you can get real estate.

at lvl 4 you can start your own kingdom

conquering Calradia

you can do it in many ways, you can do it by buying every real estate from everyone selling them your very valuable swords you made, or you can hire people to pillage and murder them with swords, your choice, but you need to get levels people or be the jack of all trades to manage it, to be jack of all trades I'd recommend to watch any video on youtube.

summary

get gud
