How to get "Paradrop" and "They Came From Above" in Career Profile

I recently got these two awards which were stubbornly not unlocking for me no matter how hard I tried following the unlock criteria for the longest time. It really does seem like one of the later patches and/or DLCs added to the game by Paradox Interactive broke these two awards.

I did not find any help at all for this problem on the internet. And from what I have found googling, there are quite a handful of posts by other HOI4 gamers that have this exact same problem on Reddit, Steam, Paradox's own forum, etc., with no help from anyone in the comments at all. So I made this guide to assist anyone with this issue since Paradox does not seem to be fixing it anytime soon.

Right click the HOI4 game in your Steam library and click on "Properties". Click on "Game Versions & Betas". Scroll down the list of past patches until you find 1.12.14, which is the earliest patch available to us that had just introduced the career profile feature in HOI4 (which is 1.12). Steam will automatically reinstall the game, let it run its course.

Launch the game in Steam. In the launcher before entering the actual game, set up a new playset with all DLCs you own disabled. Click on "Playsets" on the left side of the launcher. Click on the drop down menu that should have the default name of "Initial playset" for most people. Click on "Add new playset". Name it something notable like "No DLCs" to be able to find it easily if you have many playsets. With the new playset selected from the drop down menu, click on "Specify DLCs" next to the drop down menu. Disable all DLCs you have. Disable all mods you may have installed as well.

Run the game with this new playset from the launcher. Play as per normal as any country. I recommend fascist or communist nations like Germany or Soviet Union with high resources, technology, and manpower relatively readily available at the start compared to other countries, they can go to war faster. (I am unsure if starting from 1939 will work, I started from 1936 in ironman mode with no mods installed).

Rush to research transport plans and paradrop, train your paradrop troops to the correct number of divisions with each division having at least 5 battalions in division template (Try and train 15 divisions to unlock everything with one paradrop). Then just declare war on any nation, and execute your paradrop battleplan (You need air superiority in the areas the paradrop troops will be departing from, transiting through, and arriving in).

I skipped over the gameplay aspect in this guide as I expect you to have played the game before and have some idea how the game works as someone interested in getting the two awards. For techniques in gaining air superiority or other strategy advice, there are tons of other guides on Steam or other platforms to aid you. This guide is just to bring awareness to the presence of a fix in getting the aforementioned awards. I hope this guide helps you in unlocking these two elusive awards.

I am only missing the recently added "I'm Here to Rescue You!" ribbon in my Career Profile now. Any time my generals get captured, I cannot rescue them through a raid as the game keeps saying "The target cannot be reached", even if I literally have troops on the adjacent provinces. So if anyone has a fix for that, please let us know!
