Nile Naval Football: what it is and how to play

Feeling a bit bored with naval multiplayer, or maybe even multiplayer in general? Want a new game mode that will invigorate your gaming experience? Well look no further, as Nile Naval Football (NNF) has entered the arena. A fast paced, whirlwind of excitement and tactics, NNF is the next big thing.

Players

To begin with this is a naval battle. Yes you are playing on a coastal/combined battle map, but land units should take no part in the fray. Out of courtesy, your admin/host may ask all players (attackers and defenders) to bring 1 non-influential land unit, as defenders have to have a land unit in a coastal battle. However, this last rule is an optional choice, so it depends on your admin.

Every player must pick 1 raiding hemiolia (the fastest and cheapest missile ship) as their 'ball'. So, assuming you're in a 2v2, there should be 4 balls (2 per team). The objective of the game is to try and get your ball(s) to your opponents' red line without them routing, whilst trying to stop the other team's balls getting to your red line. Every ball that reaches this target gains a point for that team's ship, so draws are possible.

A player may bring as many or as few ships as they like, but it MUST be only 1 ball per player. Also, a player may only bring a maximum of 2 artillery ships, for balancing reasons.
And to reiterate, there must be no influential land units in this game mode.

To end the game, count the amount of balls by the red lines, and list it in chat. Then play the rest of the battle out if you'd like, or just concede defeat to speed things up.

Hosts/admins

The standard map for this game mode is The Nile on coastal battles, though feel free to change it if you'd like. Make sure that players stick to the rules which, for reference, are listed above. The minimum amount of players is 4 (2v2), though I'm sure 3v3s and 4v4s are equally viable.

Don't forget to inform the players whether you are playing the '1 land unit each' courtesy rule, as described previously.

So there you have it. Go forth, and play the heck out of this. It may be buggy and frustrating, but from my experience, you'll love it.
