Overview

The internet is flooded with modlists but who wants to sit there for hours downloading and testing it all, only to not work? Why can't you get your game looking like all those YouTube videos? Why does everyone have to butcher the original art style and vision? Can't someone just focus on remastering the game and turning GTA into what we wanted it to be?

Well, good news for you... because I have done exactly that.

Taking the best of all the modpacks out there, trawling through hundreds of pages and laying all new gameplay features and improvements on top to bring San Andreas into 2026, Summer Daze is the modpack you've been waiting for. All tested an ungodly amount of times, modloader set up and everything preconfigured to work right out of the box... you don't need to do a thing.

Packaged into one easy download, drag and drop into your main directory and you're good to go, chief! Best of all, it runs rock solid on my PC at stable 60 FPS.

PLEASE READ THROUGH EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD.
The links are at the bottom of the guide. All you need first is a clean install of GTA San Andreas. I've handled the rest.

Mods

Summer Daze compiles the work of many talented modders from around the world, often speaking different languages.

It is impossible to credit all of them as many of these were made in collaboration or building on prior releases. Please show your support or visit authors' Patreon. Summer Daze is completely free and a tribute to the authors' hard work and community that has kept this game alive!

Mods (cont.)

The game has already been downgraded to 1.0 and .exe with the 4GB LAA patch applied.

RoSA Evolved

You've read this far and might be wondering where a certain retexture is. It's not listed above or included in the pack. Why? To respect the authors' wishes, RoSA Evolved is not included and instead you'll have to download it directly from the link below.

Download RoSA Evolved here.[www.patreon.com]

Scroll down until either you find the latest public release of RoSA Evolved - if you're interested, I'm using the latest from May 2026 - or sign up to get the most recent private versions ASAP and drop it in your modloader folder the same as any other mod. (I used the Lower Resolution version, but it's up to you.)

Now, you'll likely get a crash on startup, so let me talk you through how to get it working the same as the copy on my end. Go to your ..Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto San Andreas\modloader\RoSA Project Evolved where you dropped the download.

Open it up, and what you want to do is delete the first two folders: the optional addon about SAMP/MTA multiplayer mods, and the second folder about ImgAdjuster fix. We're not quite done, because the last thing you need to do is replace a script that's also causing crashes.

Go to this link[www.patreon.com] here, follow the prompt to download the .asi script and you need to drop it in and replace the existing script.

Go back to your directory where we just installed RoSA and go inside these folders: ..\RoSA Project Evolved\RoSA Project Evolved - Exterior\Files\scripts. First delete the old ImgLimitAdjuster.asi that is there and now drop the new one we just downloaded, SimpleLimitAdjuster_IMGfiles.asi, there instead.

That's it! You're good to go. Feel free to check back to the link above to get the latest release.

Note: The Proper Fixes version installed above is for RoSA Evolved specifically. If you DO NOT use RoSA Evolved, you will need to replace that folder from the modpack with the non-RoSA download option.[www.mixmods.com.br] You will also need to replace the Improved Streaming settings preset[www.mixmods.com.br] which is tailored for the new textures with the default in the main folder.

Proper Shaders

Finally, let's talk about Proper Shaders. It's a huge graphical overhaul, think of ENB, DirectX 3.0 or RenderHook, that brings all kind of new post-processing and render effects to the engine, including dynamic shadows, HDR support and everything you're accustomed to on modern engines.

The reason it wasn't included by default but a separate, optional addon is that you WILL take a performance hit. A pretty significant one. To give you an idea, I went from 60fps in most areas to averaging 30 - 40, with some major drops for object density but who knows, maybe you have a beast PC to handle it and all the other mods on top.

Junior_Djjr is still working on it like crazy, but understand that it's a work in progress. You might also not like it because it changes the lighting too much and strays from the base game, but like I said, it's an addon. Up to you.

You can find the download link below, including the California Waves preset by pedrowav and other presets. Allow it to overwrite SkyGfx settings and anything else when dropping it in your modloader folder.

Similar to RoSA, this is being actively updated on Patreon[www.patreon.com] and the current version in the modpack is the latest public release for May 2026.

New Controls

Some of the mods included in the pack add new features, so it'd be helpful if I explained how you actually use them, wouldn't it?
  • UltimateFP
Hit Alt + X by default to bring up the GUI to edit the settings. Default FOV is 90.

  • Void's Weapon Wheel
Tab will open it with mouse to navigate. There's an option to open it on mouse scroll which is currently disabled.

  • Reload Mod
Standard. Hit R. There's an option to drop/lose the rest of the clip which is currently disabled.
I have no idea if this works with GInput and gamepads, since I don't play with a controller. Some of them do, but assume it's a case-by-case basis for mods. F11 is also used by a lot of mods to refresh.

Support & FAQ

First, let's talk about known issues.
  • Crash on launching the game without RoSA Evolved installed.
Please scroll up and read the note at the end of that section. In short, either you need to install RoSA Evolved, or if you don't want to, remove the Proper Fixes folder from modloader. Download and install the non-RoSA version of Proper Fixes from the mixmods link above.

  • Crash during intro cutscene after being thrown out of the vehicle.
This appears to be something either from VehFuncs or one of the other vehicle mods interfering. If you don't care, you can delete the mod(s) from your modloader folder, but I just skip the cutscene and you'll load in fine.

  • Controls are wrong/off-kilter when switching back from first person.
Since UltimateFP Is still in Beta, there are going to be bugs. If you find you're pressing the forward button but it's taking you on an angle or vice versa, just switch back with the Change Camera key (default V) and it'll work again.

  • Crash while using Proper Shaders.
Like I said, Proper Shaders is still very much a work-in-progress. It particularly doesn't like first person inside cars with reflections enabled, and while testing it within the modpack initiailly, I got frequent crashes in all kinds of situations. Don't get me wrong, this isn't all on Proper Shaders because we're stretching an engine not designed for all these mods already, but this is the trade-off you'll have to deal with until things improve.

  • Error and black screen on starting new game with Proper Shaders.
Hit Enter on your keyboard three times and you'll get past it. I have no idea what the cause is, shader art is like occult magic to me, but it seems to be an issue with initialising files on starting a new game. You can actually start a new game right after this and it'll work fine, but long story short, don't panic.

  • Crash tied to CopNThreat in error log.
This is pretty rare (and more of an edge-case scenario) but I ran into this a couple of times while testing and recording footage for the trailer. Seems to be a conflict with anything that disables the HUD or radar, which makes sense considering what it does. Same as usual, either avoid disabling the HUD while cops are active, or if you don't care, you can uninstall it.

  • Texture is white on one or more meshes.
This is caused by incorrect mod priority, or you have multiple mods installing the same thing. In either case, you can delete the duplicate mod or open the modloader.ini file and change priority value to load one over another. Higher/ascending number overwrites.

  • Animation offset while setting on choppers is wrong.
Considering it's only specific to this vehicle, I'm hesitant to keep messing around with patches and mod priority when the rest of the bikes and vehicles work fine. If you manage to fix it, let me know.
Now onto the FAQ.
  • Can I add or remove mods to this?
Of course, go wild. Just keep in mind that I've only tested the modpack you're getting below, and you're on your own for issues that happen with other mods you install over the top.

  • How do I do that?
Most mods are independent of each other, meaning you can install/uninstall at any time. For CLEO scripts, you just delete the same files from the cleo folder. Most will be under modloader though, you can delete the mod-specific folder and that's it. For adding mods, you may need to play round with priority by editing the modloader.ini at the bottom. This is similar to how modding works in other games, such as Bethesda titles and plugin load order.

  • How do I customise individual mods' settings?
For CLEO or modloader folders, you can open them up and chances are it'll have come with an .ini file to configure the mod to your liking. Maybe even turn it off completely. To give you an example, let's use the Kill Cam mod which I've disabled by default. You can change the Percent value in the kill cam.ini under [Settings] to whatever you want it to be, thankfully most of these are self-explanatory. If you've lucky, the author will have commented with each variable does too.

  • How did you get your CJ looking like that?
One of the mods is called Custom New Game Clothing which you can use texture and model IDs to replace the default singlet and jeans. All you need to do is open up the config file and set it to whatever you like. You can find the IDs (with pictures for reference) for all items here.[wiki.multitheftauto.com]

  • Why isn't ___ mod here?!
If you can name it, chances are I downloaded and tested it. Revamped Vehicles and ImVehFt for example were consistently causing crashes so that's why they're not included. It may also just be a personal preference thing, refer to the question above, or I felt like it strayed too much from the base game. A good example of this is making it look like GTA V with all the HUD mods. New lands and total conversions should be obvious.

  • Is there some way I can support you or say thanks?
Spreading the word and liking, favouriting, all that jazz shows me that people are interested in this, but I made this mainly for myself and won't paywall anything. It's not even my work, and I'm a staunch advocate of Forever Free from creating mods for other games, so long story short, this is by the community, for the community. That warm, fuzzy feeling is enough. Right?

Download

All you need to do is open up the downloaded archive - I recommend using 7-zip if you don't already have it - and drag and drop into your main ..\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto San Andreas directory.

For Proper Shaders, the modloader folder and allow it to overwrite everything. Have fun!

Changelog [18/07/2026]
  • Removed Storyline Improvement due to hard crash in Cleaning The Hood, making it impossible to progress.
  • Fixed the creepy spider hands issue where vertices are broken/stretched by adding Ped Spec and Character Cutscenes Remastered. Do not install Mobile Hands as well.
  • Replaced Manual DriveBy Remake with Manual DriveBy Refixed because it was the confirmed cause of crashes during Just Business, Reuniting The Families, Deconstruction, Interdiction and End of the Line.
  • Added Spread Fix so bullets won't spray in a perfect circle.
  • Updated mod priority in modloader.ini fixing most of the vehicle UV/white texture issues.
