Best & most fun console commands for HL2

How to enable the console:

Option 1 – through Steam

Right-click Half-Life 2 in your Library

Click "Properties"

Under "Launch Options", type: -console

Option 2 – in-game

Go to Options

Open Keyboard > Advanced

Check "Enable Developer Console"

Press the ~ key in-game to open the console

Before you do anything else, type:
sv_cheats 1
This enables cheat commands. Most of the fun stuff won’t work without it.

General commands:

god – Invincibility
noclip – Fly through walls
impulse 101 – All weapons and full ammo
notarget – Enemies ignore you
kill – Instantly die (used to reset or respawn)

Weapons:

give weapon_crowbar
give weapon_pistol
give weapon_357
give weapon_smg1
give weapon_ar2
give weapon_shotgun
give weapon_crossbow
give weapon_rpg
give weapon_physcannon
give weapon_frag

Ammo:

give item_ammo_pistol

Spawning NPCs:

ent_create npc_zombie
ent_create npc_combine_s
ent_create npc_antlion
ent_create npc_citizen
ent_create npc_metropolice
ent_create npc_strider

Camera and HUD:

thirdperson – Third person view
firstperson – Return to normal view
cl_drawhud 0 – Hides your HUD
cl_drawhud 1 – Brings HUD back
sv_infinite_aux_power 1 – Unlimited sprint/flashlight/oxygen

Time and gravity:

host_timescale 1 – Default game speed
host_timescale 0.5 – Slow motion
host_timescale 2 – Fast motion
sv_gravity 600 – Default gravity
sv_gravity 300 – Low gravity
sv_gravity 1000 – High gravity

Useful map commands:

map d1_trainstation_01 – Start of the game
map d2_coast_03 – Coast chapter
map d2_prison_01 – Nova Prospekt
restart – Reload current map

Things to know:

Using cheats disables achievements until you restart the game

Some commands will break scripting and softlock the game

Use these in a test save, not your main playthrough

If things break, use "restart" or reload a save
