Close game and run file verification through Steam: go to 'Library', right click 'Assassin's Creed Brotherhood', click 'Properties...', click 'Installed Files', click 'Verify Integrity of Files'. Once done, relaunch the game.

Note: I set mine to run in compatibility mode for Windows 8 [not in guide]

right click the application ACU (not the ICO) and click properties
click the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and set it to whatever you think will work, then click apply.

If you come across a guide/post/etc. that helps with a different issue or something that you found not here that helped you, let me know! I want to keep this guide updated so any issues with any of the games can be resolved through here, even if I'm not the one making them.

Also, if something in one of the guides worked for a different game, let me know so I can say that it works.
