How to fix crash on start up (2026)

A quick and simple guide for those trying to play this game on modern hardware in 2026.

First and foremost you'll need to download a few files.


1) https://github.com/Sergeanur/EaglePatch/releases/tag/v1.1

Download the one that says EaglePatchAC1.zip




2) https://github.com/ThirteenAG/Ultimate-ASI-Loader/releases/download/v4.68/Ultimate-ASI-Loader.zip

After downloading both files you'll first want to install the ASI Loader.

1. Put dinput8.dll from Ultimate ASI Loader into your Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition directory.
2. In your Assassin's Creed: Director's Cut Edition directory create a folder named scripts.

Once the ASI Loader is installed open up the EaglePatchAC1 zip file and copy and paste its contents into the newly created scripts folder.

Like I said quick and simple now you should be able to enjoy this masterpiece once again in 2026.
