How to Detect and Stop Enemy Fixers

Ever tried to start a mission, and find it blocked by a purple hexagon? You've been invaded. Online Fixers are players from other game sessions that are out to steal your data. Oftentimes, it's hard to tell if they're in your game or not, and detecting them at the wrong time can be your downfall.

Now you can't just be ultra-paranoid and skip this step, you'll find the next step can interrupt your gameplay at times. Enough of that, here's how to tell if you need to check for fixers:

• Loud, repetitive car noises. This probably means you're being tailed.
  
• Erratic driving or car crashes. These are random events, but if they happen frequently and close together, something's up.
  
• Civilians running or screaming with no provocation. Enough said here, someone's doing something wrong.
  
• One or more civilians in strange places. You'll often find Fixers tailing you from the strangest places.
  
• Slowly updating civilian positions. If they slingshot around, this is online lag. There's someone in your game.

There are 3 totally foolproof ways to finding out if a Fixer is in your game. I'll list them from least intrusive to most intrusive (as in game-stopping.).

• Least intrusive - If you have the Focus skill, tap that Focus button (default CTRL.). If the game doesn't go slow-mo, you have a Fixer in your game. This one can be used whenever you feel like it, I do it at least once per minute. Requires Focus skill.
  
• Sort of intrusive - Hit the map button (default M.). If your pointer keeps moving and you can still hear sounds, there's a Fixer on your tail.
  
• Most intrusive - Pause the game (hit ESC.). If things keep moving, you're being invaded.

Now that you're sure there's one in your game, hit "Return to Main Menu" on the Pause menu. You'll get a message box stating that there's a fixer in your game, and the Pause menu will close. Then the invasion will begin and the purple map bubble will appear.

Just like detection, there are multiple ways to go about profiling the Fixer.

• Check for erratic driving, as stated.
  
• Check for laggy citizens, as stated.
  
• Check for anyone holding a gun. (I once had someone shoot my trunk off with a Destroyer Sniper Rifle.)
  
• Fire a gun into the sky. The one person who does not run away is a Fixer, unless they're good enough to run.
  
• Look for strangely placed citizens, as stated.

Didn't work? Quit the game back to the desktop. That will surely stop him.
