Half-Life 2 🏆 Achievement Guide: Vorticough

The Vorticough achievement is a classic Easter Egg found in the Water Hazard chapter. It requires you to find the hidden "All-Knowing" Vortigaunt in his toxic cave.
📍 Location: Chapter "Water Hazard" (Map: d1_canals_13)
The secret entrance is located immediately after the boss fight where you destroy the Hunter-Chopper and open the large gate using the red crank wheel.
🚶‍♂️ How to Get It:
Spot the Vents: After passing through the gate you just opened, look at the left-hand wall of the canal. You will see two large ventilation grates.
The Jump: Use your airboat or the nearby ledge to jump onto the narrow concrete lip along the wall.
Enter the Pipe: Reach the second vent (the one that is slightly ajar). Crouch and walk inside the pipe.
The Toxic Path: Follow the tunnel through the radioactive sludge. You will take constant damage here, so keep moving forward until you reach a hidden cave opening.
Unlock: The achievement will pop as soon as you enter the cave and approach the Vortigaunt who is roasting a Headcrab.
💡 Quick Tips:
Health: Ensure you have at least 50+ HP before entering, as the radiation drains your health quickly. There are some supplies inside the cave once you reach the Vortigaunt.
Lore: Stay for a minute to listen to his dialogue; he has unique, cryptic lines regarding the G-Man and the Nihilanth.
