Where in the plot time-line are we?

You've already been to "Leap of Faith" with Boso's help, and returned.
Now you're back, probably to pick up (and then sell) some protectyon.

I had an Astrid at the time, to travel through the anomaly.

Where in the sector is this anomaly?

  • This is with v5.10 of the game, vanilla (i.e. no mods).
  • During the plot of finding these anomalies, I found 4 and marked each with a navigation marker.
  • My position is approx. 160km, south from the superhighway gate.
  • I've only done this play-through once, so can't determine if the anomaly is always in the same position. However, I have see other posts mentioning the same distance.

Timings of "high" and "low" tide.

  • There are plenty of posts on the frequency of the tide.
  • I'm just covering the times of when the anomaly is "active".

So, we're parked in front (if you can call it the front) of the anomaly.

You get the two announcements, and the first wave comes in.

There is a second wave, very close behind the first, and basically turns your view orange.

Because the first and second waves are close together, I tried to start the timer between them, so the timings are approximate.
  • The wave intensity starts to recede
  • I made it ~60 seconds before you start to see the anomaly go "active"
  • The anomaly is "active" for 2 minutes.
  • I have seen others refer to this activity as "sparkles" but it looks more like stringy lightning. This could be due to graphics settings.
  • These "sparkles" fade in and out, so are not visible for the full "active" duration. Don't panic! You have 2 minutes.

The next sequence of screenshots are examples of the "sparkles".
I have not zoomed in, just hidden the ship and HUD.
Screenshots aren't great so there is a video at the end of this guide as well.

Part way through I reduce the in-game graphic settings (High -> Medium -> Low) to see if that affects the visuals.
Again, this could be graphics-card dependant.

Hope this helps.
