Soviet Sniper Squads

First of all ,lats talk about Snipers in general(in Company Of Heroes 2 ) .
Snipers are one of the most elite units in the Red Army and definitely the deadliest.
When we talk about their lethality, it is very important not to compare them with classic infantry units, primarily because of their small number (1 man squad) .Even though they don't have the numbers like, for example, shock troops and even though they don't have strong armor, snipers can be, with proper use,the most useful unit on the battlefield.Each sniper costs 340 manpower and considering that this is a significant resource especially for the early game, I suggest that you carefully read my and other reviews before you start using these great units in battle!

Let's talk a little about Soviet sniper weapons.
First of all, every Soviet sniper is just like Wehrmacht snipers or British, armed with a long-range and very deadly rifle capable of killing from the first hit.The name of the rifle is the Scoped Mosin Nagant, an excellent long-range rifle that kills the infantry model instantly, except in the case of a total miss.

Ambush Camouflage
The ability to camouflage is one of the most important features of a sniper.
Sniper Squads have a passive ability to enter into ambush camouflage in light or heavy cover or when they are hiding in the bush or in the deep snow .This renders them invisible to nearby enemies and gives them a slight damage boost.
Note that camouflage will be temporarily broken on firing or using a flare.

Hold Fire
The Scout Sniper Squad will not fire unless explicitly ordered to, preventing them from breaking their camouflage.

Flare
Sniper Squad will fire a slow-falling parachute flare above the target area, revealing a radius around it for about 35 seconds.The flare ability is great for detecting enemy positions and the location of vehicles and units.

Veterancy is one of the significant characteristics of Soviet snipers.
As a Soviet unit, the scout sniper can gain three levels of veterancy.
Each level brings its own specific benefits:

Level 1 Veterancy:
"Flare" ability unlocked.

Level 2 Veterancy:
Reload time reduced by 20%.
Sight range increased by 20%.
Cooldown reduced by 20%.

Level 3 Veterancy:
Range of "flare" ability increased by 25%.
Reload time reduced by 30%.
Cooldown reduced by 30%.

In this section we will talk about tactics and some useful tips for using this unit.
First of all ,If you plan to use a sniper team throughout the match, you must be very patient and careful.Snipers are much weaker at close range than other infantry units and you will need to be very careful and move them around constantly.If you notice that the enemy is approaching and shooting at your sniper, immediately order the retreat option because otherwise your sniper will not have much of a chance.Using the fall back command will most likely save their lives .

I recommend using snipers against :
Light machine guns(I suggest using 2 snipers)
Opponent sniper squads
All types of infantry
Engineers(to stop them from building bunkers,minefields...)
Mortar squads
Anti-tank guns and field guns

If you're fighting in a city, place a sniper in a building or house, it will improve his scouting abilities and lethality.
Using 2 sniper teams will further improve your attacking abilities to kill opposing teams .

If you plan to base your game and tactics on snipers, bulletins are a must have.
Bulletins will further improve your capabilities.

"Point And Click"
Scout Snipers gain 5% increased sight and their rifles cool down 2% faster between shots.

"Master Flanker"
Soviet Sniper Teams reload 5% faster.

And now we will talk about the other side of the coin, which is the weaknesses of sniper teams.
First of all snipers are 1 man squads and therefore they are very vulnerable to blobs, vehicles, artillery ....
Very weak armor.
Soviet snipers fire slower than German snipers .
Without veterancy, they aim and shoot slowly.
Even though they are enemy infantry killing machines they are completely useless against even the lightest vehicles,not to mention the tanks.
Scout Sniper Squad cannot board transport vehicles.

Snipers of the Soviet Union played an important role mainly on the Eastern Front of World War II.
During World War II, 428,335 individuals, including partisans, are believed to have received Red Army sniper training, and of those 9,534 obtained higher-level qualifications.Unlike the militaries of other states, these snipers could be men or women. Between 1941–1945, a total of 2,484 Soviet female snipers were functioning in this role, of whom about 500 survived the war.
