Preamble, Sigmars tenants

TW: Probably Heresy
Now, While i can hear the Lectors, readying an obnoxiously big rock to hit me with. i will use the tenant's of sigmar to make my case

- Obey your orders.
- Aid Dwarf-folk, never do them harm.
- Promote the unity of the Empire.
- Bear true allegiance to the imperial throne.
- Root out Greenskins, Chaos worshippers, and foul witches without mercy.

Thine, tenants (if you follow our lord sigma) do not speak of skaven, they only mention chaos worshipers, which lets ME, have a bit of leeway.

Now i will go over these tenants point for point, to see for cases or situations, that would either contradict or back-up the question of "can i hammer that rat"

Tenant 1. Obey thine orders.

Now this is a particularly easy one, if your leaders command thee to smitten that rat. you will kill the rat, pretty simple

now if thine commands don't include the vermin cleansing then you are ok on this front

Tenant 2. Aid the vertically challenged

Also simple, kill the rat if they are being mean to people of equal height.

Tenant 3. Promote the unity of the empire

This can get a bit, complicated.

Having a common enemy of the vermin is an easy road to unity, but if you are in a situation where there are more pressing things at hand, we can easily see the rules on this being, conditional of vague at best.

I mean after all. Sienna is still alive

But there is also another, fun. but improbable instance.

So Skaven lil ruthless funny evil and rancid cuties
Their evil nature is a bit of a complicated stew of circumstances,
let me make a lil list

The MAIN, problem is the great horned rat and warpstone corruption,
now you might see that i'm steering it more in the direction of skaven reform, which is kinda needed to be guaranteed for following the direction of our lord and savior sigmar and the value of unity.

Ok so the horned rat
The faith in him is less Faith or hope and more Fear, due to the skaven belief that if they don't make regular blood sacrifices to the horned rat, they will be literally consumed by his never ending hunger.

As such many dissenters or rats who don't revere the Under father, may be subject to becoming a sacrifice themselves.

Which means you would have to find a rodent that somehow either does not know about the Horned one, or indoctrinate them into another faith on the basis of protection.
As a lot of skaven don't generally know much about other gods since their writing system is either not taught to the young ones, or it's simply too complex.

and because the main skaven belief that is hammered into them is self preservation except for a few special cases

So it's not hard to imagine a rat praying to sigmar, because they believe that sigmar can save them from the horned rat's wrath

Second problem is honestly quite a bit harder as it has to do with magic,
the skaven colonies and cities are often filled with, warpstones so, so much warpstones.
it's pure magic, the stuff that human sorcerers deal with on a much smaller scale just to go mad or get possessed by demons.

this is probably the most rough part of trying to reform a skaven, is that they are usually brain blasted by warpstone from birth, This is really the most problematic part for the question, as we have nothing about skaven being removed from warpstone. which means that this is where the question line would normally end, unless we made a FAR assumption on both that they can exist without warpstone and that we can manage to have a skaven be born separate from the green sniff stuff

Tenant 4. Bear true allegiance to the imperial throne

this is just, tenant 1 with a more pointed answer as to who sigmar actually wants you to serve. not much to say as i already assume you are an imperial

Tenant 5. Root out greenskins, Chaos worshipers and foul witches

This just wraps back around to having a skaven defect or convert with a slight question mark, as to does the horned rat count as an actual force of chaos, but i'll assume we have the average opinion of a sigmar follower on that matter

End statement and slight disappointment

As this goes back to the question of "is there a good rat" it will as usual come back to the answer of "Maybe but there are too many trying to gut you to find one that doesn't"

In a technical way the answer is yes

In a sigmar holy follower way the answer becomes.

Yes as long as you are dedicated to this single cause and are fine with being called a heretic for your entire life, with a possibility of chaos corruption.
The question of rat reform is something that will probably never be answered, nor do i know if it really should be.

So on that note.
Go have fun going back to slaying the vermin
Or hunting the vermin dream on certain sites

This post was written by totally not a rat or a heretic

I'm in no way an expert

i'm quite new to warhammer fantasy lore. so i will definitely get things wrong, and i didn't even run this past my girlfriend, who knows much more about the lore than me because she's currently sick
