Delphine won't talk to me after killing the dragon in Kynesgrove (Gate To Sovngarde)
Introduction
So, you've killed the dragon in Kynesgrove, absorbed the dragon's soul, and... Delphine just doesn't want to initiate a dialogue with you that would trigger a new quest (you can talk to her, but there's nothing else to talk about besides the Thalmor and the Dragonborn).
This is a very long-standing problem, and I'm surprised that people on Reddit are still discussing it and trying to find solutions after 13 years lol
(https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrim/comments/1g9l4o/cant_talk_to_delphine_to_complete_a_blade_in_the/).
Personally, I tried a variety of methods:
- Teleport and rewind time ×
- Knock her down with a shovel ×
- Rewind to the start of the quest (around the point where you find the note about her taking the Horn of the Greybeards) ×
- Kill and resurrect her using kill and resurrect ×
- The common method is using setstage MQ106 160 (almost all variations, except 200, which completes the quest) ×
If you have the vanilla version of the game, this mod might help (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/157841)
(It didn't work with GTS)
I also suspect that some mods are to blame, but there are so many of them that I decided not to go through all of them and found a method that can allow you to continue along the main quest line, but you will have to skip the spy mission in Thalmor with Delphine.
Solution
After killing the dragon and changing the quest status from "A BLADE IN THE DARK" to "Talk to Delphine"
enter completequest MQ106 in the console (setstage MQ106 200 is also possible).
Next, enter setstage MQ202 10 to begin the quest "A CORNERED RAT." After entering this command, the quest will begin, but will appear as completed. Don't worry, it's still active.
Next, find Esbern where he should be, and the storyline continues.
I hope this helps someone.
