Basic Overview

** THIS GUIDE HAS BEEN ABANDONED. MOST INFO WILL BE OUTDATED**
Peregrinaje is a mod for the Chaos Wastes. It adds new boons, new challenges, new campaign lengths, its own difficulties and more features into the game mode.

This guide will only be covering the Chaos Wastes aspect for now, though there is a Fortunes of War mode contained within.

Peregrinaje Mod - all credit to the creators

Overview of base game Chaos Wastes by Royale with Cheese

CHECK YOUR TALENTS before entering a game. The mod has its own balance changes and everyone has a 4th THP option. You can deactivate class changes in the mod options.

What's the same?

The basic structure of the game mode remains. You enter the mode set to a base power dependent on difficulty with nothing but your equipped weapons, vote for maps to play through and build as you go. Nothing is retained between games. The maps you play in Peregrinaje are the same 15 available maps from the basic mode, plus 2 campaign maps.

Exclusive features

Peregrinaje has many fun additions to make the mode feel more like true chaos.

  • 5 Players - Yep that's right, this is an Ubersreik 5 (Or 4, doesn't matter) mod.
  • Loot rats have the chance to not only drop large coin caches, but also a Chest of Trials.
  • Lords can spawn from a Chest of Trials or during events within maps.
  • Curses will be applied to the team upon completing a Chest of Trials for a short duration.
  • Re-Rolling boons Don't like what you see in your chest or shop? Once per expedition you can re-roll for free (assuming you didn't buy anything) or obtain tickets for extra re-rolls.
  • Re-Rolling weapons - Don't like the properties on your weapon? You can now reroll them at the same temper for some extra cost.
  • Grindstones are no longer just useless scenery, they have a chance to upgrade (or downgrade) your weapon's power level. There is a rare chance on turning one to also open the Chest of Trials interface for two free boons.
  • Peregrinaje shop is a chat command feature. Upon completion of levels at Peregrinaje or higher difficulty, you will be awarded a small amount of points. These points can be spent at the start of rounds to buy random boons. Use command "/peregrinajeshop" in the keep or at the start of matches.

Badges

Badges are a rare pickup you can obtain to grant teamwide buffs. There are 5 varieties, each with varying effects as listed below.

  • Badge of Greed - This badge creates an AoE around it that will explode after 5 seconds. It will drop 2 caches of coins, any enemies killed by the explosion will add an additional cache.
  • Badge of Luck - This badge will grant a free random boon to every player. Perhaps also increases players luckiness?
  • Badge of Life - This badge will revive and heal everyone in the party. It does not respawn the players.
  • Badge of Strength - This badge will grant 50% power to alive players for 120 seconds.
  • Badge of Praise - This badge will disable the next two Peregrinaje curses.
All badges you have picked up display in the Pilgrimage Chamber alongside the total amount of times that you have looted each one.

Map changes

Expedition length

The Peregrinaje mode has a choice to launch 3 different expeditions.

Normal Expedition will launch any of the first 3 expeditions from the base game (Fortitude, Courage or Determination).
Peregrinaje Citadel will launch an Expedition to the Citadel of Eternity.
Peregrinaje Tabletop will launch a map with various path lengths, the shortest being 1 map, 1 shrine and an ending event; the longest being 7 maps, 5 shrines and 2 ending events.

Map changes

Some new modifiers have been added and some maps may have 3 modifiers. New additions include:
  • +Bombs
  • +Chests of Trials
  • ++ Pilgrim's Coins

When in the voting screen there is a chance to encounter "Ubersreik 5's Nightmare". The icon will be that of a shrine, but it will load you into one of the following campaign maps:
  • Blood in the Darkness
  • Convocation of Decay
  • Dark Omens
  • Horn of Magnus
  • Hunger in the dark
  • Trail of Treachery

New map rewards

In addition to the existing map rewards, there are a pool of new ones added.

  • 60% Revive Speed
  • 60% Respawn Speed
  • 25% Health (Up from 20% in the base game)
  • 15% Power vs any of the following: Skaven, Chaos, Beastmen, Armoured, Infantry or Monsters (Note: In the base game Power vs Monsters is awarded at 40%)
  • 20% Damage Reduction vs any of the following: Skaven, Chaos or Beastmen
  • Boon of Shallya

New map curses
  • Slaanesh's Jealousy - Players who are close together gain stronger pushes which consume no stamina but lose 200% of their healing effectiveness. Lonely players gain 100% heal effectiveness.
  • Tzeentch's Gift - Randomise the size of all enemies.
  • Tzeentch's Plan Allies in close proximity will not be visible to each other.
  • Be'lakor - Grey Wings - Be'lakor spawns powerful magic enemies.
Grey Wings will periodically spawn 2-3 elites. These will be as a set of either: A Chaos Warrior, Mauler and Berserker or a Shielded Stormvermin, regular Stormvermin and a Plague Monk. These will have a slight purple "hex" effect on them and teleport away on taking damage. At least one of them will be completely immune to ranged, if not all of them.
  • Ulgu's Deception - enemies will be concealed until close to the player. They take half damage when not visible, and are seen only as puffs of smoke.
  • The Darkness of Heresy - The map will be totally dark and require the torch to be carried to navigate properly.
  • Robbed - There will be no item pickups, but more sack rats will spawn.
  • Abduction - Players will not respawn if killed.
  • Unstable - Haven't fully figured out what this one does yet, but you will receive a positive blessing from Olesya for the duration of this map.

Boon List

Peregrinaje adds many exclusive boons. This is by no means a complete list but it is as complete as I have been able to compile alone and I will edit to add more if found.

EDITED BOONS
These are boons that exist in the base game but have been edited for Peregrinaje.

Autopickup Pilgrim's Coins in a 10m radius.
Valaya's Brew
- Using your career skill has a 40% chance of granting you the effect of the potion you are currently carrying. Now applies with Spirit Brewer.
Using your career skill has a 50% chance of granting you the effect of the potion you are currently carrying.
Xokha's Duty
Using your career skill refunds 10% of nearby allies' ability bars.
Seems to work as described in Peregrinaje. Applies as accelerated cooldown rather than the flat refund as in base game. I thought it worth adding here as in base game it refunds 10% per human player totalling 40% in a full team and this is not the case in this mode.

EXCLUSIVE BOONS

Common / Plentiful

  • Altar Discount Ticket - The next Warrior's Altar will have a discount of 50%, and the next Seers/Soldiers/Hunters will have a discount of 95%.
  • Discount Ticket - In the next shop, everything will have a discount of 50%.
  • Explorer Kit - Increase your attack speed and critical strike chance by 5%, block cost reduction by 15% and base max ammo by 40%.

  • Malal's shift - When you dodge your power increases by 6% but you receive 3% more damage. Stacks 10 times and each stack lasts for 10 seconds.
  • Peeping Tom - See what random altars will offer before you buy.
  • Quetzl's Armour - Receiving damage creates lightning towards the attacker and charges your armour. Once the armour is fully charged, lightning will shoot out to all close enemies for a short time.
  • Reroll Ticket - Lets you reroll once for free, even if you bought something.
  • Slower But Stronger - Increase your power by 75% but decrease your attack speed by 45%.
  • Spirit Brewer - When you drink a potion you gain additional effects depending on the potion but you receive more damage for 10 seconds. (Note: This simply applies concoction when activated, giving you all base game potion effects. The exception seems to be if any damage boosting potion is used, you will not gain the strength potion effect. The effects cannot double, so base game potions are worth leaving for your allies.)

Rare
  • Aqshy's Pendant - Increase the size of your overcharge bar by 75%.
  • Aqshy Master - Killing an enemy with burn damage or ranged attacks will grant you 1 stack. When you have 5 stacks or more you can press the Class Boon key and the next enemy you kill will create a Burning Head for every 10 charges.
  • Assassin - Increase your melee backstab damage by 10%. After using your career skill, all melee attacks will be backstabs for the next 6 seconds.

  • Chest Purifier - You gain 15% health for every Chest of Trials completed.
  • Chest Smiter - You gain 25% cleave for every Chest of Trials completed.

  • Deal with the Devil - Increases coins gained by 666% and heal effectiveness by 66.6% but also your damage taken by 66.6%.
  • Destruction of Siernos - Burning damage can now be critical which causes 50% more damage and scales with Crit Power. It will always consider ranged crit chance regardless of guaranteed crit chance. Ranged crit chance increased by 10%.
  • Extra-Shoot - Ranged attacks have 2 additional projectiles but your ranged spread is increased.
  • Fast Hands - Automatically pick up consumables (potions, bombs, healing, ammunition when empty). Gain 5% attack speed, 15% chance not to consume an item and 75% speed buff on Bel'a'kor chest interactions.

  • Sofia's Memory - Reduce your venting damage, overcharge generation and damage to overcharge by 30%. (Sienna only)
  • Stabber - Increase your melee backstab damage by 50%
  • Taal's Swiftness - Ranged hits increase your attack and reload speed by 0.76%. Can stack up to 40 times and each stack lasts 10 seconds.

Boon List - continued

EXOTIC BOONS

  • Immovable - You cannot be moved, pushed or catapulted.

MYTHIC BOONS
  • Radar - Use the Ultimate Boon key to tag every taggable enemy. (Note: 120 second cooldown. Ultimate Boon key must be assigned in the Mod Options. There is no default keybind.)

  • Increase your max health as you lose health, decrease it as you gain health.
  • Occasionally spawn the pinatas/bubbles from the Glory to Greed curse
  • Can save you from death on a 4 minute cooldown. Immunity is granted on resisting death and you are healed to full

NEW SHRINES

Ubersreik 5's Dream
A new type of shrine, Ubersreik 5's Dream will drop you into a Weaves ending arena with a few shrines for weapon exchanges, upgrades and boons. There will also appear a Chest of Trials. Complete the chest to exit the level. Other enemies will spawn in your time here.

Lohner's Flea Market
A new type of shrine, Lohner's Flea Market will sell different miracles to every player. These will still be teamwide but everyone will see different options. They can be any of the above miracles, or two new ones:

Blessing of Hope: Censers will appear that grant attack speed, critical strike chance and small temporary health regeneration. Censers will teleport if players are too far from them, if they have been destroyed or if it has been 80 seconds since they spawned.
Cost: 300
Hidden in the Shadows: Grants a stealth potion.
Cost: 50

Weapon Properties

The tier above Veteran weapons is Mythic in this mod. The shrines used to get these are rare but can spawn on any map from the start, getting gradually more common as you progress.
Veteran Weapons retain their perfect roll even with this extra tier, Mythic weapons simply roll a higher perfect roll.
These are the changed max rolls for Peregrinaje. Power vs. Race refers to all base game races and types, Beastmen are considered their own race for the purposes of this mod.

Veteran weapons are in the 500s for power, Mythics are 665. Mythic weapons will roll two traits but there is nothing to prevent both traits being the same one.

Chests of Trials

The challenges within the Chest of Trials have been changed for Peregrinaje. I will try to list as many as I can remember, any I forget can be added at a later date.
The chests will offer 5 boons and you can take two from each chest.

  • Boss - any of the normal bosses. Can be Grudge-Marked dependent on difficulty and your progress through the maps.
  • Dual Boss - as above, but two.
  • Tri-Boss - as above, but three. Allergy warning: May contain Lords.
  • Lord - any of the base game Lords (Gatekeeper Naglfahr, Bodvarr Ribspreader, Skarrik Spinemanglr, Bubblegum Hollybush, Deathrattler and Rasknitt). Can be Grudge-Marked dependent on difficulty and your progress through the maps.
  • Nurgloth - What can I say? It's Nurgloth and he's mad at you. Also comes with Grudge-Marks TM.
  • Specials - Waves of Specials, usually all spawn at once.
  • Unstable Horde - Waves of elites. I believe it is 5 waves and includes all elites within the available factions.
  • Ethereal Skeletons
  • - Spawns 2 waves of the skeletons from Tower of Treachery.
  • Ethereal Skeleton Champions - Spawns 2 smaller waves of buffed skeletons with Grudge-Marks.

Bosses and Lords can have I believe up to 5 Grudge-Marks.
Rampart has been removed and replaced with Fortified , a Grudge-Mark that grants the boss 33% Damage Reduction.
Flaming is a new Grudge-Mark. The boss will periodically explode, damaging the player. Closer proximity will result in more damage.

Once the chest has been completed a curse will be applied to the entire team for a short time. These are not their official names, some are loose descriptors and some are names from other parts of the game (Twitch Mode etc.) that the same effect is used for.

  • Speed Up/Slow Down - Time will periodically move between slow motion and fast motion.
  • Frozen - You will be locked in place for a short time
  • Lightning - Glowing circles around players will appear, when they stop moving lightning will come down and deal damage to anything within the circle.
  • Blightstorms - Blightstorms will spawn and move around the map without the need for a caster.
  • Bleed - You will bleed.
  • Statue - A statue will spawn that somebody must hold at all times until the curse wears off. When thrown to the ground a purple screen effect will appear, if it is not picked up the statue will explode killing everyone around it, and the game will end regardless of survivors. Once the statue can be put down without the screen effect appearing it is safe to leave it on the floor without the game ending - but it will still explode. This curse is disabled in solo play.
  • Swapping Places - You will be "tethered" to another player and periodically switch places with them.
  • Curse - Your maximum HP will be reduced.
  • Kill Curse - Your maximum HP will be reduced for every kill you get while the curse is active.
  • Ranald's Sparkling Gift - Sparkles will appear around a player periodically. Once they explode they will deal damage and heavy knockback to any player closeby including the one it spawns on. If the player is alone or far enough from everyone else, the knockback will still occur but it will be damage free.
  • Curse of Comradeship - If you are too far from other players you will take rapid heavy damage.
  • Thorns - Slain enemies will spawn thorns that deal damage and slow you down.
  • Act on Instinct - The HUD will be removed.
  • Deafness - All sound will be significantly reduced.
  • Drunken Movement - You will move a small amount in random directions every few seconds.
  • Curse of Anraheir - Moving while this curse is active will cause you to take rapid heavy damage.
  • Gold Weave - Killing armoured enemies will send shards of metal flying from the player for a short time, damaging enemies.
  • Disco Lights - A colour changing bright spotlight will spawn on the player. Very bright, hinders vision significantly.
  • Darkness - Similar to the darkness effect in the base game in maps like Blightreaper and Hunger in the Dark. Significantly reduced vision.

Anything I have forgotten in this entire guide (Boons, Boss chests, Curses) or anything you know to be incorrect (I did a lot of guessing and memory work) please let me know so I can fix it. I just really like this game mode and thought there should be at least some listing of some things.

CHECK YOUR TALENTS before loading into a match. I am going to be updating the guide with individual career changes once all have been finalised as it's too fast to keep up with for now. Some careers have had very noticeable changes so double and triple check everything before you go in.
