To duplicate items, you need to get the W-Item command materia that you could find into Midgar's 8 sector underground (at the end of the second part of the game). You have to go to the south until this screen:

Note that if you've missed it, you still can get it at the Bone Village.

Thanks to this materia, a character can use two items at once. The trick is that there is a bug that allow you to duplicate items.

To do that, enter into a battle with the materia equipped. Use W-Item and select the item that you want to duplicate.

Then, select another item (it does not matter which one) but don't confirm it, simply cancel your selection.

Now, you can notice that the amount of the first selected item has been increased by one ! You can then repeat the process until the item's amount reaches the maximum (x99).

This trick can only duplicate items usable in battle, but it's very useful for items like Megalixir or Silkis Greens.

In Final Fantasy 7, you will find many items called "sources". There are six different sources: Power Source, Guard Source, Magic Source, Mind Source, Speed Source and Luck Source.

Using one of these sources, you can increase one of the statistic of a character. The problem is that these items can only be used out of a battle, so it's not possible to duplicate them with W-Item...

Fortunately, there is a trick that allow source duplication as well!

This trick uses items duplication explained just above. As a matter of fact, some ennemies can be morphed by Morph command materia into sources ! This is the case of all ennemies that can be found into Shinra Sunken Ship Gelnika. You can get the six types of sources just there.

The cunning here is to use W-Item materia during another character is morphing this kind of ennemy. I strongly recommend Yuffie to morph an ennemy because her last weapon, Conformer, damage isn't reduced (1/8 else).

Before to start a battle, make sure that you have a single copy of a useless item (like potion, or Chocobo greens) at the top of your item list. This item will be destroyed, that's why it have to be useless and easily replaceable. Check also that you don't have any sources like the one that you want to duplicate !

You have to give the W-Item materia to a character other than Yuffie and equip Yuffie with Conformer and Morph materia.

From the moment you are ready to morph an ennemy, launch the command "Morph" and quickly switch to the character with W-Item materia and use the first item of the list (you know, the useless one ;)) and select another item but without confirm it. Once the enemy have been morphed, the source will appears at the top of your item list and you can notice that when you cancel the second item selection, the new source amount is increased by one !

One little problem with this technique is that some ennemies are alone. So, when you morph them, the battle ends and you don't have the time to duplicate the source. You can use cunning giving the Final Attack support materia linked with Morph command materia coupled with even more combination of Final Attack + defensive materia (like Shield or Full Cure) placed after. Use Quadra Magic can save you lot of time. More Final Attack + defensive materia combination you have, more you will have the time to duplicate the source !

At the end of the game, you want to train your characters and materias. The best place for that is inside the Nothern Crater, in the swamp rooms.

As soon as you get the Highwind, you can obtain the Quadra Magic materia and without Chocobo !

To do this, you have to go near the cave, where there is the separation between grass and rock.

Now, try to land the Highwind just at this separation.

During the landing, press and hold [Switch] and [Right] at the same time. This bug is very difficult to achieve and there is bound to be a fail several times before succeeding. Persevere and be patient ;)
