Map / Items / Gameplay

- Adds = Shorthand for "additional enemies". Refers to the game throwing a moderate amount of additional standard Enemies at you. Can also be used to refer to any additional enemies pulled unintentionally.

- Aggro = The attention of an enemy. If you "have aggro" then the enemy is attacking you. To "aggro" an enemy means to get the attention of a passive enemy, who then comes to attack you. (Aggro comes from Aggression).

- Ambush = Preceded by quiet muttering/whispering, an ambush is a sudden attack by a moderate number of standard enemies.

- AoE = "Area of Effect", a term used for describing attacks which do damage over a large area (e.g. Sienna's Staff is a common one).

- Boss Swapped / Switched = A signal that a miniboss (rat ogre, chaos spawn, stormfiend, bile troll) swapped aggro to another player. For example "Elf, swapped" means the boss in question swapped his target to Kerillian.

- Bomb = Common word for the two variants of bombs. Firebombs and Bombs. Used to make explosions.

- Chokes / Chokepoints = Defensible positions used to funnel hordes into easily killable places, essentially kill-zones.

- CC / Crowd Control = "CC" or Crowd Control is the ability to keep crowds of enemies in check by keeping them in their place or Staggering them. Some Weapons Specialize in this.

- Dance = An attempt to keep a boss relatively stationary with movement.

- Down, downed = Person who got downed, is slowly bleeding out and requires healing or death might come calling.

- Drops, drop-downs, points of no-return = Most maps have places where you cannot return after jumping down a certain location.

- Dupe = Shorthand for any of the three grades of trinket (Boxes) that provide a chance to duplicate a health item, potion, or bomb when first picked up by the trinket holder. On maps with limited resources (or in the Last Stand game mode), this trinket can greatly increase resources available to the team. On the other hand, the trinket holder must have a chance to pick up every item (before it's been placed in another player's inventory) if it is to be maximally useful.

- Event = An event is a scripted portion of a game level with specific objectives (such as carrying explosive barrels to a target) and often a specific sequence of enemies (such as a horde and then a rat ogre). In referring to maps and strategies, "event" is used as shorthand as in "at the first event, let's not use your strength potion so that we still have it if we get the ogre afterwards".

It can also mean the weekly event, or a special event that is running (double xp, or special mission)

- FF = Friendly Fire. In reality isn´t. DO NOT SHOOT TEAMMATES, IT HURTS THEM AND IS A BAD THING.

- Grim / grims = Grimoires, hidden books that grant higher quality of loot at the end of the map, should the team survive.

- Grim-carrier = Some classes are arguably better at carrying grimoires than others, those classes are thus better suited to carry grims, examples are Ironbreaker and Foot Knight.

- Gray = player has gone down and has yet to have their downs reset with a heal. Their health bar may be green but is deceptive. (Also called Black or Black and white or B&W)

- Heals, Drinks, Healing Draughts, Draughts = Healing item that restores a set amount of hitpoints to the person who drinks it.

- Hold = To wait for a horde in a suitably defensible position, to wait as a team for something to happen. For example clearing a horde before a drop-down in order to avoid a known boss-trigger area.

- Kite / Kiting = Kiting refers to using constant movement in one direction to both avoid being surrounded by rats and to "collect" most of your enemies in a dense mass behind you. Kiting, especially along a circular route, can allow one player to successfully defend themselves against (and eventually overcome) virtually any amount of enemies and is therefore an essential combat tactic for those attempting true solo missions or trying to clutch for their team. It also can help for boss's as kiting can keep the enemy focused on you, but keep you out of range so that it's not hitting you. For example: Kiting a boss as bardin while keeping aggro will allow your team to beat it into a pulp with minimal damage done.

- Medpacks = Can be used to heal yourself or someone else, restores a set percentage of hitpoints while also cleaning wounds on the person using it.

- NB, regen = Natural Bond, grants a passive health regen but removes the ability to use healing draughts or medpacks on yourself. CAN still use medpack on someone else to clean a wound.

- Push = To move together as a team, gain map progress

- Tome = Another loot item, picking one up and carrying it to the end of the map awards higher quality loot box.

- Pots / Pot = Potions, summary for speed, strenght or concentration potion.

- Rez / Rev / Revive = Both terms refer to approaching a downed teammate and then activating your "use" key to bring them back into the game. Also used to describe freeing a dead teammate.

- Rotate = move to a new location. "Gas thrown, rotate right" means move to the right to avoid the globe's gas.

- Temp hp = White hitpoints, temporary hitpoints, usually gained from character level 20 class ability which grants hitpoints per kills.

- Ult = Shortening for Career specific ultimate ability, for example Sienna´s Burning Head or Slayer´s Leap. "Lemme ult the boss off a cliff"

- White (or Black and White, or B&W) = White hitpoints, a "bleed-out state". You were injured bad enough that a team mate had to revive you. You are on temporary hitpoints, slowly bleeding out into 1 hit point. Use a healing item or die instantly on your next down.
