Introduction and recommendations

WARNING! This guide is translated from Ukrainian. If you notice any errors, please let me know.

Greetings. In this guide, I will look at which DLC for the game is worth buying. When I first planned to buy the game's DLC and went to the American Truck Simulator store page, I was very surprised by the amount of additional content that was available for the game. There are currently 51 add-ons available, of which 48 can be purchased, 11 of which are free and have not yet been released: Louisiana, Iowa and Missouri.

There is no point in buying all the DLC because in most cases they only add extra paint for your truck. But there are additions that significantly affect the experience and enjoyment of the game. Some DLC can make aspects of the game easier and also allow you to earn more money.

Recommendations

Some of the recommendations may seem obvious, but this guide is intended for both experienced players and new ones. Therefore, I have collected the following recommendations:
  • Buy DLC during sales, because the discounts on them are very significant;
  • It’s better to buy the DLC as part of bundles, as this will further reduce the cost of DLC by -15%;
  • Even if you already have one DLC from the bundle, still buy the bundle. It will be cheaper, since the price of the bundle is updated and the price is removed from the set of DLC that you own;
  • Do not buy several bundles at the same time that contain the same DLC, since you will pay for the same DLC twice, so you need to wait about 30-45 minutes for the previously purchased DLC to be removed from the bundle;
  • Even if you have one DLC left from the bundle, the bundle discount will apply;
  • Buy the DLC in the order shown in the guide, this is the best ratio of enjoyment to price.

Free DLC

Addition for new cargo and new trailers

First of all, I recommend buying DLC for cargo and new trailers, because these DLC are included in the map expansion bundles. But in bundles there is a 15% discount for map expansion, and in these bundles it’s already 20%. And taking into account the recommendations from the beginning of the guide, the price of the bundle is updated and the DLC that you own are removed from the kit.
And let's start with new cargoes:

EXCEPTIONAL CARGO BUNDLE -20%

Contains the following DLC: Special Transport, Heavy Cargo Pack and Forest Machinery.

These additions allow you to transport large cargo. Payment for these cargoes is one of the highest in the game and these cargoes are available almost at the beginning of the game.

VOLVO CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT BUNDLE -50%

Contains the following DLC: American Truck Simulator - Volvo Construction Equipment and Euro Truck Simulator 2 - Volvo Construction Equipment.
This bundle adds new cargo to both the ATS game and the ETS 2 game.

JCB EQUIPMENT PACK BUNDLE -50%

This bundle adds new cargo to both the ATS game and the ETS 2 game.

Map expansion

Secondly, I recommend buying add-ons to expand the map, because you will eventually open the entire standard map, and with these add-ons you can travel almost all over America. Also, the addition to the cards will allow you to take cargo over long distances, which will allow you to earn more per delivery.

GREAT PLAINS CALLING! BUNDLE -15%

CONCLUSIONS

By purchasing these three bundles, you will receive all the add-ons for expanding the card and will be able to save your money during the purchase. The main thing is to use the recommendations that I wrote above. And considering that in these bundles, in addition to the map expansion, there are other additions, you already get a full-fledged game with all the available content, not taking into account the painting of trucks. The map of available states will look like this:
Dark Green – base game and free expansion. Green – paid add-ons to expand the map. Blue – states are included in the bundle. Orange - states not yet released in development

Other bundles available for the game

If you want to collect the entire set of add-ons for yourself, I recommend using the following bundles, which will help save your money.

TEXAS-SIZED BUNDLE -15%

Contains the following DLC: Texas, New Mexico, Heavy Cargo Pack, Special Transport, Wheel Tuning Pack and Space Paint Jobs Pack.
