Introduction

Hey guys,
If you love playing RON against the computer, and having fun, this guide is worth a try.

I've been trying to combine my favorite nation powers through the rules.xml but found I could not :(

The closest I could come to that is by playing Conquer The World (CTW) mode and using other nation's oath of fealty cards. With this guide you can edit cards in your deck to your liking :)

I found an old post that helped me achieve this:

https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/other-games-aa/rise-of-nations/106586-making-more-wonder-of-world-cards-available-in-ctw

much credit to Roh_Z for posting that comment, he's the real MVP

The goal of this guide is to replace cards currently in your deck with other nation's oath of fealty cards so you can combine nation powers multiple times in battles that allow bonus cards

Editing your save

1. Save your game at the CTW mode map. I play “The entire world” mode

2. Buy bonus cards. I used “sheet urchin” to add more $ and buy more cards to replace with what I choose. Save. *Back up working saves in case you mess one up.*

3. Open your save with a hex editor. They are located in:
\Documents\My Games\Rise of Nations
I use Cygnus for hex editing, but I am sure other Hex editors work the same. I've also tried the Hex plugin for Notepad++

4. Find your name (on the right of hex values) and look upward for FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF [xx]
xx =
01 = wonder
02 = sabotage
03 = Eureka
04 = Economic Boom
05 = Mercenaries
06 = Treachery
07 = Great Thinker
08 = Merchant Guild
09 = Logistics
0A = Partisans
0B = Cultural Dominance
0C = Trade Embargo
0D = Propaganda
0E = Skill Bonus

IE, the entire value for a wonder card is this: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF 01 00 00 00

So far, for nation oath of fealty (OOF) cards I've found:

FF FF FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Aztec
FF FF FF FF 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Mayan
FF FF FF FF 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Inca
FF FF FF FF 03 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Bantu
FF FF FF FF 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Nubian
FF FF FF FF 05 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Greek
FF FF FF FF 06 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Roman
FF FF FF FF 07 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Egyptian
FF FF FF FF 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Turk
FF FF FF FF 09 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Spanish
FF FF FF FF 0A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = French
FF FF FF FF 0B 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = British
FF FF FF FF 0C 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = German
FF FF FF FF 0D 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Russian
FF FF FF FF 0E 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Chinese
FF FF FF FF 0F 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Japanese
FF FF FF FF F0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Russian
FF FF FF FF 10 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Korean
FF FF FF FF 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Mongol
FF FF FF FF 12 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Iroquois
FF FF FF FF 13 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Lakota
FF FF FF FF 14 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = American
FF FF FF FF 15 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Indian
FF FF FF FF 16 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Dutch
FF FF FF FF 17 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Persian

replace existing cards in your deck with the oath of fealty cards above to your liking, as long as you do not break the order it should work:

IMPORTANT: in your save, OOF cards have to be put in a certain order.
It goes
OOF > OOF+ regular bonus card > regular bonus card
say you have 20 cards in your deck that you would like to replace with oath of fealty … the last oath of fealty before a regular card MUST be combined with another, as such:

FF FF FF FF 04 00 00 00 0C 00 00 00 = Nubian followed by a trade embargo card
FF FF FF FF 01 00 00 00 03 00 00 00 = Aztecs followed by an eureka card

NOTE: in the hex editor, If the last OOF, before a regular bonus card, is not combined with another as in the example above, the game will crash every time you hover over the deck

5. profit

Conclusion

If you have any hex values you would like me to add, please post them. I take no responsibility for corrupt saves. Back up your data!

Personal excuses: I have played countless legit games against the computer on tough.
I have thousands of hours and I would not call myself a competitive player (I suck lol). I play for fun. This gives me new ways to have fun with this classic. I enjoy modding the game, creating maps and using cheats in general to turtle and have fun.

I hope someone down the line will find this useful. Thanks!
