How to beat the Archers of Anor Londo, for noobs.

DARK SOULS™: REMASTERED25 views2 favorites4 min readby TOXIKFIRE666View on Steam ↗

Step One: Git Gud (Supplies)

The first thing you're gonna want to do is buy the crest from Andre in Undead Parish and farm the forest hunters on the other side of the gate in Darkroot Garden. There are guides on how to do that on youtube, so I won't elaborate here.

How many souls do you need? However many it takes to level your dexterity to 18, and then around 30,000 for poison arrows AND heavy or fire arrows, whichever you like. You might want some extra for upgrading your equipment.

Go to the back right section of the forest hunter area and kill the archer Pharis there and take her bow.

Go to the undead merchant in the aqueduct and purchase your arrows, I like to get 300 but you get however many you want. Also get heavy or fire arrows, doesn't much matter its just so you don't waste too many poison arrows.

Step Two: Snuggly

Go back to Firelink Shrine and rest there so you can homeward bone back, then head to the catacombs past the graveyard.

Find a necromancer there and kill it to death until one of them drops a skull lantern. They don't re-spawn so its good to have your item discovery stat up just in case. (It should be a guaranteed drop from the last necromancer you kill.)

Homeward bone back to Firelink shrine, then parkour your way from the undead parish elevator to the top of the ruins and catch the feathery uber back to Undead Asylum. I recommend mapping your jump to the left stick click if you are struggling to make the jump from the cliff to the buttress.

Once you land back at the Undead Asylum there will be hollows on the path so kill those real quick, you don't need to go inside but they will ruin your day if you don't get rid of them.

On the left side of the path there is a narrow bit of floor that has a nest on the end of it, stand in the nest and drop the skull lantern there out of your inventory. Exit to the main menu and return to the game, Loot the nest. You now have the Ring of Fog.

Bone your way back to Firelink, and from there hoof it back to the bonfire in the Darkmoon Tomb in Anor Londo.

Step Three: Vengeance

Once you have rested at the bonfire and prayed to whatever god you believe in, Equip your melee weapon of choice in your first slot and your bow in the second slot, you don't need to equip the ring yet. Slot your arrows too.

Run past the giants and to the first landing, kill the 3 pink guys there. Don't go down the ramp to the second landing yet! Don't even get on the ramp, the archers can get you there.

Swap to your bow and use your NON poisoned arrows to aggro the two pink guys on the second landing. Usually one of them falls off the roof trying to get on the ramp so don't waste your arrows on him. Pincushion the remaining pink guy with arrows until it is also dead.

Now you want to equip the Fog ring. I also take off whatever chest armor so you don't sound like a kitchen sink as stealth is the name of the game here. Swap to your poison arrows and go onward to the second landing and to that tower ledge up the first section of ramp. The archers shouldn't see you.

Here is where you bestow upon them their stinky demise! Stand on the left corner and start pelting the left archer in the face with poison arrows, when he starts launching fence posts at you step back behind the corner of the tower until he quits and continue this process until the poison procs. Switch to your non poison arrows and shoot him until the red part of his health bar is 0.

Now you do the same thing you did to the left archer to the one on the right. Poison arrows to the face, hide, regular arrows until dead. You are now free to proceed, don't forget to loot the corpse on the left, then go inside to the bonfire.

Don't forget flirt with Solaire, you've earned it!

NG+

To make your life easier the next time you have to finesse your way around these chrome A-holes, you should acquire the Dragonslayer Greatbow which can be found by going out the broken window on the upper floor of the great hall and following the path there to the corpse hanging above the Giant Blacksmith area.

Before you go into NG+ get as many of the arrows for it as you can stand to grind souls for, 200+ minimum. There are so many situations this bow is helpful in and it is oh so very satisfying to knock the archers off their ledge with their own weapons of a** destruction.

I hope this guide helps those poor souls leaving endless red puddles on the buttresses, may the stress avoided from this part of the game add extra years to your life.
