Optimal Sounds For Open Windows

WARNING: 7000 hours of turbo sounds can damage your ears. I had to lower it.

I have gone through Engine and Exhaust sliders and drove with the windows fully down until I found a desired level. I try to make the truck sound most pleasant with stereo headphones. The sliders have been optimized for 65mph speed limit.

You can copy the lower section in to a Steam notepad in the shift-tab overlay from Sound Settings to Western Star 5700xe to make it easier to use.

1. Engine - Tuned for each truck.
2. Exhaust - Tuned for each truck.
3. Turbo - Tuned for each truck.
4. Air Effects - 25 to match others.
5. Tire/Wind Noise - 25 to counter the gravel.
6. Trailer Noise - 25 since not a great sound.

Sound Settings

04/20/25 - Edited Volvo VNL. Got rid of loud engine peaks at certain times.

08/24/25 - Edited Peterbilt 579. Exhaust was too loud.
09/28/25 - Edited Freightliner Cascadia. Got rid of musical humming at higher speeds.
10/17/25 - Reworked T680. I found quieter truck feels newer. Exhaust too high.
10/19/25 - Added in global open window slider settings at the top. If you had enough changing.
12/24/25 - Raised Volvo VNL sounds.
03/12/26 - Lowered Turbo sounds from 50 to 35. Reason: Ringing ears.
03/26/26 - Lowered Truck Sounds to match others at 35.
03/27/26 - Tuned every truck for hearing care with windows open. All trucks have been changed.
03/27/26 - Further lowered Peterbilt 579.
03/27/26 - Lowered tire sounds to match the lowered global changes for hearing care. 1.58 fixed.
04/05/26 - Further tuning of all trucks to balance turbo levels.
