You’ll still die.
Just slightly slower.

Riverside
Best beginner town overall.

• safer neighborhoods

Rosewood
Good for learning combat.

• police station
  
• fire station
  
• smaller town

West Point
Avoid as a beginner unless you enjoy suffering.

Best beginner weapons:

• frying pan
  
• crowbar
  
• baseball bat
  
• axe

Kitchen knives work…until they don’t. Inventory management is life.

School bags and hiking bags are huge upgrades.

Fill EVERYTHING before water shuts off.

Future you will thank you. Look for:

• 2-story homes
  
• fenced areas
  
• nearby water
  
• curtains

Close every curtain immediately.

The zombies absolutely saw you.

1–3 zombies? Fine.
10 zombies? Leave.

Your character gets tired faster than you think.

This is your bread-and-butter combo.

Congrats. You are now legally a Kentucky resident. Every experienced player has died because:

“I thought I cleared that area.”

Bathroom doors are statistically the most dangerous object in Kentucky.

Watch Life and Living TV early for free XP. One of the best combat skills in the game.
Higher nimble = less awkward combat movement.

Low nimble feels like fighting in a nightmare.

Needed later for hotwiring cars.

Cars become insanely important after the first week.

Early game priority:

• medical supplies
  
• tools
  
• skill books
  
• generator magazine

If you find the generator magazine early:
YOU WIN.

Cars are both:

• transportation
  
• mobile storage
  
• giant zombie alarms

Don’t drive through town blasting music unless you want:

• 700 zombies
  
• immediate regret

You’ll get exhausted and die.

Walk more.
Jog less.

If you’re carrying:

• 4 toasters
  
• 19 forks
  
• a microwave

You are not surviving.
You are moving apartments. Moodles matter A LOT.

“Tired” in Project Zomboid basically means:

“Your weapon is now made of cardboard.”

TVs, alarms, windows, guns:
all attract zombies.

The helicopter event especially can ruin your life.

Once stable, work toward:

• organized storage
  
• vehicle maintenance
  
• base defenses

Eventually you stop surviving…

…and start thriving.

Until you accidentally eat burnt food and crash into a tree.
