Basics for Diablo-like veterans
Vital Energy
Observe that the health bar has a golden covering on it. The golden part is your Vital Energy. It is used up out-of-combat to restore health, and having health regen gear makes this process more efficient. It is restored by levelling up, picking up food, and picking up vital energy drops.
Basically - don't use potions out-of-combat.

Rift Gates
You can create a Rift Gate at almost any time, and enter it to travel to any other waypoint. In fact this ability is acknowledged as a key part of many quests.
Basically - there are no scrolls of Town Portal, you can do it at will.

Normal attacks are useless
Each class has an ability that is supposed to be used in place of normal attacks. For example, for the Soldier, the Cadence ability is just-plain better than normal melee attacking because it uses no energy. On the other extreme, the Arcanist uses a lot of energy for his basic ability and must therefore use hit-and-run tactics to conserve energy.
This should also be a big part of your decision on which two classes to use. For example, any kind of melee build may need Soldier, just for the Cadence ability.

Skill points are also stat points
There are stat points which you put into Physique, Cunning, or Spirit. But you also put skill points into levelling up your classes, and these increase your stats by a lot more than the actual stat points. Some classes have passive abilities that increase stats by a further percentage.
This is very important for deciding which two classes to take. For example, you might pick Arcanist as your second class for the Spirit boost and passives, without using any Arcanist active abilities.
