fix Sony XM series audio issues

The purpose of this guide is to resolve the degraded audio quality caused by a poor implementation of bluetooth between Sony and Microsoft.

Other headsets suffer from this issue as well but I faced it with WH-1000XM3 and WH-1000XM5 and this method resolves the issue with both.

I did this on Windows 10 and 11 but steps work similarly on 8 and up. (probably older as well)

There is a rather large caveat to this method: This disables the built in microphone on the headset. If that is your only microphone you'll need a different fix or a different mic.

New note: already have reports of this method not solving the issue. added a section below for some further ideas.

To begin; Make sure your headphones are connected via bluetooth to your PC.
start > type "control" > choose control panel >
in view by: select small icons > right click Devices and Printers >
choose open in new window >
right click WH-1000XM* > choose properties >
navigate to services tab > uncheck hands free telephony > click ok

That's it! You should now be able to use discord and MCC at the same time.

this has no effect for me and I have seen sources (randoms on reddit) that say this only effects the menus

Install EarTrumpet from the microsoft store. This one worked for me as well. At first it sounded the same but I alt tabbed and switched the output device for MCC to my TV and now the audio is still coming through my headphones but isn't distorted.

If anyone has any other tips please leave them in the comments below I'd like to add them to the guide since there seems to be a lot of audio issues in this game.
