Backstory

Before that, I tried all the methods that were written in Steam discussions, on forums dedicated to the game, and also on Reddit. None of the methods helped. And then, today, I decided to install Duke Nukem Forever to play through it and noticed a file called installscript.vdf. I remembered that Civilization V has the same file. So I decided to open this file in the Duke Nukem Forever game folder and compare it with the file in Civilization V.

Begining

When I opened the file, I noticed the similarity between the DirectX and VCRedist installation commands. However, for the first game, the DirectX installation command was as follows

installscript.vdf Duke Nukem Forever
Then, I decided to see how things were going with the second one. There, the picture was as follows
installscript.vdf Civilization V
DirectX 11 had the /quite command, which differed from the /silent command in DirectX 9. Without thinking twice, I decided to change the command to /silent.

I saved the changes and decided to launch the game, selecting the DirectX 10/11 launch method. Imagine my surprise when the game launched without any problems or crashes!
