How to have incredible runs as ???

You may be to the part of the game where you unlock a character named "???", if you aren't there, then stop reading. Also stop reading if you don't have WoTL.

Now this should have gotten rid of any newer players.

Blue baby, at first, you might think is the worst character in the game. With only 3 spirit hearts and the poop. But the more you use it the more you realize that blue baby is a viable character. Blue baby has many advantages and many disadvantages. I'll go over his activatable before we go anywhere else.

Blue baby starts with the poop which probably takes the 4rd spot on my least favorite activatables because it atleast can help. I've even found eternal hearts or dimes in it. It can yield some money or hearts now and then and it has a recharge of one room. It can be used tactically by blocking an enemy's attacks or paths but it never really proves to be decent. I'd swap this out as soon as you can.

Here's a simple formula to easily be a defence powerhouse as blue baby/???. Take note that if you have all the spirit heart items unlocked you will find yourself finding them often. Playing as blue baby encourages you to play better as soul hearts can be scarce and don't appear when you need them the most.

1. Try to find and destroy all tinted rocks and secret rooms

2. Open the shops when you can and pray for nun's habit to appear
3. When it appears, buy it.

4. Search for spirit heart items (Nail, book of revs, fortune teller's orb, maybe even book of sin)

Prior to the womb, you are basically a god unless you get hit by a bomb or enemy that does 1 heart of damage. Unless you get the wafer. Then you are always a god. Blue baby also had a health exploit that made him invincible when he took a full health pill. Not completely sure if it works right now though.

The next thing that can make blue baby godly is the polaroid or book of shadows. While late game, the polaroid can make isaac and blue baby fights a breeze. Book of shadows isn't as good as polaroid for invinicibillity but I believe it lasts longer. Here is another list on how:

1. Get items that make you do contact damage to enemies, such as the virus or sacraficial dagger. Items like Mr. Mega also work.
2. When you get hit you can run right up to the enemy and deal massive damage for the 7-10 or so seconds while you are invulnerable.
3. If you have sacraficial dagger + another circling familiar like halo of flies you will deal massive damage to enemies on contact. Especially with poison touch. (I once beat isaac with only soul hearts through this trick).
4. If you combine this trick and the habit + soul heart item trick you can deal massive damage with little cost to your health. With the wafer you essentially break the game. This is even more game breaking if you have the gaurdian angel as it makes all orbitting familiars orbit faster and you avoid projectiles a lot more often.

(NOTE) Celtic cross is completely useless to blue baby if you have the polaroid. Celtic cross is only good if you don't have the polaroid. It's a better item as any other character.

There is another trick involving a trinket. Namely the liberty cap. The liberty cap gives a random mushroom effect on each room. Some mushrooms give temporary max health. Well, as blue baby, you keep this heart when you exit the room so you basically heal a soul heart every now and then. If I recall correctly, there are 4 mushroom effects liberty cap can give and 2 of which increase max health. The only way you keep this with the polaroid is to have mom's purse. Which basically means you will heal now and then and get invincibillity on every hit making half a heart worth twice as much.

There is also a trinket and passive that both make you find more soul hearts. The mitre is the item and mom's pearl is the trinket. Both of which grant you a bigger chance to find soul hearts. Both combined give you around an 80% or so chance to find spirit hearts when you find a normal heart. Making you find constant soul hearts. A trinket that can make this combo better is child's heart. I've had this combo before and I found a ton of spirit hearts. This combo is also good as eve but it nearly eliminates your abillity to find red hearts as eve.

A good item as blue baby is the cross. The cross grants a spirit heart every 4 rooms and can not be sped up or anything like that. It's more valuable then it sounds as if you are good playing blue baby you'll be able to make the most of every single heart you find.

Babylon is a great item is blue baby as it increases your damage and you don't need to maintain your health unlike for other characters. You must have eve unlocked for this item (which you should at this point). It's a good item for blue baby.

Another way to get some good damage is to pick up the pact when you find it. It gives you 2 soul hearts when you picking up so basically as blue baby you give 1 heart for a fire rate, damage, and speed up. It helps, but it's no run-winning item.

The only reason people hate blue baby is because people don't realize that when you buff him out, he is more of a defence based character. With possible invulnerabillity on hit and possibillities for massive health pools. I think this character is highly underrated (although he is a pain to play). The habit, nail, wafer, sacraficial dagger, and polaroid can = the key to success.
