How to Gaslight in Squad
Introduction
The premise of the game is as follows, you and random people or your friends communicate to use your resources in an efficient manner to complete the game, am I wrong. Well I think the core of it is. Follow me here, but if a general in real life can send men into combat and get them killed for his own gain and medals, then get a seven figure job at Lockheed martin afterwards, why cant you? Are the tides of freedom so far in the opposite direction that we cant make adult decisions as such, no we have to take it for our own. And that is where I come into help.
Story Time
Case study: Fallujah
Goal: Power
Scene: Terrible rooftop HAB
Moments before the sand dusted roof overlooking the beautiful main mosque that centers the ancient Iraq city of Fallujah was beholden to a HAB, a team of private military contractors was pushed by a Canadian gathering of soldiers feeding on chaos to push into the valley of death. A result of such events followed a single FOB on the map, one place for an entire team to spawn, an opportunity. Contractors flooded this unprotected rooftop in order to save whatever might be left of a team effect. One last avail, a last concerted push into the cut.
One man in the fray and confusion fires his weapon."Enemy 50 meters South West!"
A barrage sets the area alight. Rounds strike the assumed enemy with no stop, killing the men dead. A group rests easy knowing the threat is down. But that was squad 4, not a Canadian.
The blame game has begun...
A story as such seems like a small accident, a bite of a slice of pizza. But this was a concerted effort. You see, I fired in the fray of the entire team complaining about the FOB building, I placed the FOB to begin with. But I did so to take power. After squad 4 was killed on the nearby rooftop by the rest of the fools around me. Command chat lights up, blame, blame, blame. I chime in.
"Command why did you fire at squad 4?"
"Command why did you place the FOB here?"
My friend on the ground focused on the blueberries, and adds fuel to the fire.
"Hey why did the commander place this FOB here?"
"why did command shoot at squad 4?"
Other squads join, and there is no stopping the fire that has been started.
"Yo command why did you shoot at me?"
"Hey command my whole squad just got killed, why did you place this here?"
Emotions are high, and I am focused. While mouths are still frothing at the commander, I put in for his position. I win, out with the old, in with the new.
A Start, Anywhere, Just Start
"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed at some indefinite time in the future." General George S. Patton.
People have a short memory in this game, and their effort resides on a spectrum, sorta like autism. They either care too much or too little. You can use both against them reliably. Imagine a match, where the squad leader is yelling at you and the guy next to you to return over to his position or you'll get kicked. The squad leader cares too much, and the guy next to you cares too little, both having a try at teamwork in some capacity. While he yells and threatens kick, you are in a gunfight, the most fun you've had in an hour on the server and your patience is running thin of this guy. You decide that you'll run back, but on your way back, a gunfight with no one erupts nearby your SL, and your frag 'accidentally' kills him. That was enough to set him over the line and he leaves, and the guy next to you that didn't really care is too lazy to leave and find another server after he gets made squad leader since he was a fire team leader. Now you can go on your own like before.
Gas lighting is just like any thing, use the ooda loop and observe your surroundings and act. There are many ways to achieve goals, most people think things are 'immoral' and 'unjust', like the example. But the ends justify the means in this game.
Become Osama Bin Laden, he wanted to take down the twin towers and stike America, he had a goal. Get a goal like Osama. Pick a desired outcome, a plan without a standard of that plans efficiency is no plan but yet hope placed in unwieldy outcomes. It doesn't need to be elaborate, pick something, the paragraph above about team-killing on 'accident' was a spur of the moment effort. But the goal was simple, get rid of this guy yelling. Compare it to the longer plans like the one at the start of this guide, taking power by turning forty to fifty people against one man. An outcome is a must.Hired Guns
Every person you know, became someone you know because of someone else. A helping hand, or even a hurting one, they were conceived as you know it by other people molding them over time. Humans are social creatures, in the end we need each other. Get your friends on the same page as you.
Getting Kicked/The End
Pick yourself up, admins will try to stop you. But there will be more to do, every person has a brain, thought, emotions, fears, and plans. There will be more targets, you know what is right (I think). Getting kicked is part of the game. Playing like everyone else has gotten me booted off servers by bad leadership, might as well go down having fun. One person can ruin an entire server, a single squad leader has so much power of the field of war, a tide turns with one person at the forefront, leading the masses, not the other way around. Take your head (no not that head) and use it.
My guide is not long, it is not complicated, there is much more to learn about people, much more to scheme. But in the end, the people that you meet in real life are not the same as in the game. The voice on the other side of the screen cannot see your face, they don't know you, or even your skin color, and their whole trust of a good game is in you when playing under you, or near you. Its all very simple, so keep it simple, convincing people to work against their agendas is not a difficult task. Especially on the internet, where the human mind does not exist, but yet a far dumber side product of it.
In the end, I wish you well, and hope the kicks calm as time goes on, and the gas lighting becomes easier. This guide was created by its original author on the Steam Community. Are you the author and want it removed? Request removal.
