PZ Server Tools - The Guide

You're gonna want to read this. Trust me.

Two tools, one location, both built to keep your server running so you don't have to waste time fighting config files when there are actual dead to deal with. Head to /pz and you'll find everything you need.

  1. Mod Manager (/pz) - Import, organize, and export your server mod list
  2. Server Config Generator (/pz/config) - Visual SandboxVars builder with themed presets

Both share a tabbed navigation up top. Simple. The way things should be.

Tool 1: Mod Manager

The Problem

Your server.ini needs two lines that have to stay perfectly in sync: the Workshop IDs and the internal Mod IDs. Workshop IDs are easy, they're in the URL. But the Mod IDs? Buried in each mod's Steam description, formatted differently every time. Hunting those down across 50+ mods by hand is like clearing a town block by block with a butter knife.

This tool scrapes those Mod IDs for you automatically.

Adding Mods

Three ways in. Pick whichever keeps you alive the longest.
Method
What to Do
Paste a Mod URL
Drop a Steam Workshop mod link into the import bar. It fetches the mod and finds the Mod ID for you
Paste a Collection URL
Drop a Steam Workshop collection link. Every mod in that collection gets imported at once
Search by Name
Start typing a mod name. Live suggestions appear, click one to import it

The import bar auto-detects whether you're pasting a collection or a single mod. Just paste and go.

Managing Your Mods

Each mod card shows the thumbnail, title, Workshop ID, and the Mod IDs the tool found. From there you can:
  • Toggle individual Mod IDs on or off if a mod has multiple
  • Enable/Disable mods - disabled mods get excluded from export
  • See missing dependencies - if a mod needs something you haven't imported, it flags it with a one-click import. No mod left behind
  • Manually edit Mod IDs - if the tool missed one or got it wrong, you can fix it yourself

Bulk Actions

  • Enable All / Disable All
  • Clear All Mods
  • Sort by Title, Date Added, File Size, or Custom drag order
  • Search and filter within your list
  • Hide disabled mods

Saved Mod Lists

Running multiple servers or different mod setups? You can create multiple named mod lists and switch between them. Each list auto-saves, tracks its mod count, and remembers when it was last updated. Rename or delete them whenever you need to.

Exporting

The Export panel at the bottom generates the two lines you need, ready to paste straight into your server.ini:
WorkshopItems=2392709985;2313387159;2266420109;... Mods=Arsenal(26)GunFighter;tsarslib;Brita_2;...

B41 vs B42: Toggle your game version and the tool formats everything correctly. No guesswork.

Copy buttons let you grab each line individually.

Sharing With Friends

The Export panel also generates a readable mod list with all your enabled mods by name. Copy it, send it to your group, and they'll know exactly what to subscribe to. Keep your people informed. That's how a group stays together.

Tool 2: Server Config Generator

What It Does

Builds a complete SandboxVars config file through a visual interface. No more editing Lua files by hand and hoping you didn't break something. Every setting has a readable label, description, and the right control (toggles, sliders, dropdowns, number inputs).

Presets

Don't start from scratch. Pick a preset and build from there.
Preset
Tagline
The Vibe
PZ Default
"The vanilla experience"
Standard settings, as the devs intended
The Walking Dead
"Everyone's infected"
Slow shamblers, drag-down kills, high population. Everyone turns on death. Sound familiar
I Am Legend
"They come out at night"
Fast superhuman night hunters, low population, pitch-black nights
28 Days Later
"Rage virus"
Sprinters with blood-only transmission and near-instant mortality
World War Z
"The swarm"
Insane population of sprinters that overwhelm through sheer numbers
9 to 5
"Got work tomorrow"
Night-active shamblers, boosted loot, 3x XP. For people with jobs and lives
Casual Survivor
"Relaxed apocalypse"
Weak, fragile, day-only shamblers, low population, abundant loot

Each preset only changes the settings that matter for its theme. Everything else stays at PZ defaults. Click one and it applies instantly.

Settings

Everything is organized into collapsible categories covering every SandboxVars option:
  • Zombie Lore - Speed, strength, toughness, transmission, senses, drag-down
  • Zombie Population - Multipliers, peak day, respawn, group size
  • XP Multipliers - Global and per-skill
  • Loot Rarity - Per-category abundance (food, weapons, ammo, medical, etc.)
  • World Settings - Erosion, nature, farming, weather
  • Time & Day - Day length, start date, night darkness
  • Vehicles - Spawn rates, condition, fuel, engine quality
  • Player Settings - Injury severity, hunger/thirst rates, stats
  • Combat & Firearms - Damage multipliers, jam rates
  • Meta Events - Helicopters, gunshots, alarms
  • And more: Utilities, Map, Crafting, Fire, AI Director, Misc

The UI knows when you've gone off-preset and marks it as "Custom." You'll always know where you stand.

Output

A live-updating panel at the bottom shows your complete config, properly formatted and ready to go. One click to copy. Paste it into your server config and move on.

All your changes auto-save to your browser. Close the tab, come back tomorrow, your settings are right where you left them.

That's everything. The tools are there. The dead aren't waiting, and neither should your server setup. Now get to it.

Ok, where is it?

Right here. Stop reading and start using it.
