Warrens Guide for Beginners
For a quick start...
Enemies
To get in more deeply I explain the fiends you might encounter individually.
Swine Chopper
The Chopper has high health points plus a bit of protection, which is why he’ll be the frontline of the swine packs. He will likely try to push and stun your weak backline heroes, but he doesn’t do a lot of damage. Don’t focus him! Stunning him can make your life a lot easier, especially since he can’t dodge.
Swine Wretch
The Swine Wretch can induce high stress on single targets. It may also cause infections. It is pretty low on HP and has low stun and bleed resistances. I recommend killing it quickly.
Swine Drummer
The Drummer can stress multiple heroes at once but for a relatively low amount. He also marks heroes with his single target attack. He doesn’t have to be your first target, but you shouldn’t wait too long with killing it, if you don’t want your heroes to be stressed out.
Swine Slasher
This one has nothing but a medium damage attack. They are not a big threat. Only critical hits might hamper you a bit. You might as well kill them fast, since they are low on HP and resistances.
Webber & Spitter
Normally they spawn as two of each sort with Webbers in the front in Spitters in the back. They have low resistances and low health and rely on blight damage. Webbers mark targets with „Web“ and Spitters attack them with „Spit“. To break the combo, kill either the Webbers or the Spitters completely, before attacking the other kind.
Maggot
Maggots mostly come in a pack of two or three. Since they are very low on HP and pretty slow, a party with proficient speed should have no problems at all. A party that relies on stuns and DoT can get stressed by their attacks, since they have high over all resistances (with 100% stun resistance). Just hit them fast and with blunt damage.
Carrion Eater
Those creatures have very high resistances (e.g. 100% blight resistance), but zero dodging ability. They normally come in a pack of two or three and can blight you. Shouldn’t be a big problem.
Madman
Madmen can induce high stress to group or single targets. They lack overall resistances but have high dodging capability. Be sure to kill them or keep them stunned to prevent stress.
Cultist Acolyte
He is also one of the bigger threats, since He can induce high amounts of stress on single targets and ruin your torch level. You should stun him and/or try to kill him fast. If you have any blight abilities, you can use them against him, since he is one of the few with low blight resistances in the Warrens. The Acolyte can also push and pull your heroes. Just don’t let those guys live for too long.
Cultist Brawler
The Cultist Brawler can make the Acolyte even stronger, since he gives his targets a +10% stress debuff. Also, his attacks might cause bleeding. The damage is pretty low though. Aim for the Acolyte and heal the bleeding if possible. Cultist Brawlers by themselves are not a big threat and you can mostly kill them at last.
Items and tactics advice
Bring someone who can heal blight – like the Plague Doctor. He can prevent a lot of damage over time with that. Don’t use Plague Grenade or Noxious Blast, since Warrens enemies have high Blight resistance. Instead use Incision on the enemies with low bleeding resistance and use his stun and corpse clearing skill.
The crusader is a solid pick with good resistances, a high single target damage to one-hit weak frontliners and the capability to boost your torch, if Acolytes cause too big problems with that. Alternatively you can pick the Leper who can mark himself and boost his (especially blight and bleed) resistances. The Men-at-Arms would be helpful as will with his party buff (dodging and less stress).
Damage-wise, a Grave Robber, a Highwayman or maybe the Houndmaster are solid picks. They have good single target damages and can use their bleeding attacks against most of the enemies, too.
As a healer you can pick the Vestal, if you want to have more stunning and torch capability. A more offensive pick would be the Occultist. In that case you should have some other heal spells in your party (e.g. Leper, Houndmaster, Arbalest).
Antivenom is your friend when you can’t heal all the blight with the plague doctor. Since there can be many traps, a bandage can be nice to have, too. Also, bring a shovel or two, since there often are blockages.
